It was the honor of my high school career to complete my project, SMILE Music, this past Saturday in raising $8234 at our 2026 SMILE Benefit Recital, making a grand total of $19,007 to the UCI Cancer Research Institute over our past four years!!

It means so much to me to have had your support in honor of my mom, but it means even more that so many of us found more love and reintroduced music into our lives. SMILE has become an irreplaceable part of all our high school journeys, and as I jokingly mentioned, it feels as if I graduated already amongst my best friends. Thank you for your support of both SMILE, and of me.

Our beloved musicians and advocates played our program from The Beatles to Intermission to Chopin (of course), working so hard to make this possible. But this year, I truly want to thank the greatest team of partners in SMILE’s history:
@hbhsbeekind for their fresh bouquets 💐
@the.sweet.hearts.club for their homemade treats 🍰
@ttianastreats for her tasteful drinks 🍵,
and @nhsoilers for keeping our own HBHS students involved- truly every single volunteer was so kind and willing to help.

All of your generosity created a beautiful setup for our guests and our own members, I was truly impressed every time I stepped outside.

And finally, thank you to the
@anticancerchallenge and the UCI Cancer Research Institute for their incredible work for our loved ones. With every single person who has supported me on SMILE’s journey, I can’t wait to continue Sharing Music to Inspire, Lead, and Empower (SMILE) in the fight against cancer after high school.

So much love,
Cate 🩷
