‘Spring Graze’ (oil on canvas 40 x 30 cm )is being shown this June 12-16 - PV June 12 South Stoke Barn BN18 9PF nr Arundel in Contemporary Landscape exhibition ‘Art and Agriculture’ Productive Land . www. zimmerstewart.co.uk. I painted this looking across my property at Herringbroom Studio to Ridlington Farm where the farmer, Andy Gadd had his sheep on a rotational graze. Rotational graze is a way farmers ensure grazing animals do not stay too long in one area and overgraze the land which would result in grass not being able to grow properly. This protects the land for future generations. I took a photo of the sheep next page) from my barn in Duncton, West Sussex where I live. #farmerlife #sheep #productiveland #productivelife @zimmerstewart #pleinairpainting #oilpaintingartist by @catharinesomerville_studio

oil on board covered by linen. done while a young mother was sitting for my friend Janet Carter and I in her small flat in Midhurst, West Sussex. She didn’t drink a sip of water the whole time she sat for us because she didn’t want to move from her position. 3 hrs ! Amazing model ! and her little boy silently played around her. #portrait #catharinesomerville_studio #herringbroomstudio #niagara #westsussex by @catharinesomerville_studio
