Every new season, a delivery arrives at my home with the latest Abigail Ahern @abigailahern botanicals — hundreds of stems, a plethora of vases and beautiful homeware to play with.

I diligently style and photograph them in vases, from overhead compositions to detailed close-ups. It’s a very lovely job, being surrounded by flowers all day — and although they’re faux, they’re beautifully made and wonderfully realistic.

Here’s just a little look at some of the current season, now out. 🌿

And there are a few behind-the-scenes videos at the end, featuring my studio ‘helper’… who may or may not be quite as diligent as me. 🤭

Pick Your Own Flower Workshop @gravetyemanor

One of the loveliest events I’ve photographed at Gravetye, the weather couldn’t have been more beautiful and the gardens more abundant of colour and blooms. Under the guidance of resident florists Sharon and Katie guests cut their own blooms, learnt how to condition them and then style and arrange them in vases.

Plus there was a lovely lunch included too.

Been in the studio today!

A little sushi + lights, getting some practice in ahead of an upcoming restaurant shoot after taking a few weeks off for summer.

Lovely to see this Greek inspired gathering and garden cinema feature in the August issue of @simplethingsmag Big thanks to the talented @catherine_frawley for asking me to collaborate and to @frankieceramics from @frankies.studio_ for the tableware loan.

I had a lot of fun styling up this delicious Greek feast in our garden and turning my deck into a home cinema for a screening of Mama Mia! Thank you so much to our brilliant models @barbaragillmarketing @amy_budsflowershop @lemon_and_lime_design @drinteriors @steff_ashworth and @jadebeardstevens , such a fun shoot.

Nomadic x Masterchef Feast Over Fire 🔥

A few weeks back I had the pleasure of capturing another sumptuous event in Nomadics woodland. It was a very special one not only having the Masterchef finalists creating the menu but Nomadic is 8 years old! And as Noah (founder of Nomadic) reminded me - I’ve been here from the beginning- from the humble hopeful desire to cook great local, seasonal ingredients over fire that has continued but evolved and grown and flourished to this very special place to gather and feast.

And as for the Masterchef menu (I’ve borrowed the following from Nomadic):

Last year’s MasterChef winner and finalists turned up to the woods our Anniversary Feast land delivered a class in over fire cooking.

@the_wandering_cumbrian opened with coal-oil venison tartare then followed with an ox heart skewer so confident it basically dared you not to order offal again.

@cookingsouls torched an eel until it forgot it was an eel, then served monkfish with charred sweetcorn ragu that had people scraping the plate like it owed them money.

@chef_emmess went full “watch me do less, better” with hot-smoked sea trout on new season potato.

@mark.o.brien brought a chicharrón Caesar that shouldn’t work and absolutely does, then teamed up with Luke for a pork loin course so smoky it needed its own postcode.

@chefcarolinemeyerkerber closed with fire-roasted beetroot and a soy caramel peach dessert that we’re still thinking about, quite honestly against our will.

All of it cooked over open fire, under 87 acres of Chiltern woodland, because apparently doing things the easy way was never on the table.

Glimpses of newly opened @kinzrestaurant in Notting Hill, the reimaging of the old Lloyds Bank building into this airy, Lebanese inspired space, filled with Lebanese art work, tiles, fixtures and an all Lebanese wine menu.

Spot the old chemist signage, step inside the old bank vault that is now the wine cellar and private dining. Walls are decorated with Lebanese artists work and there are plenty of private rooms for special occasions.

The food was superb velvety hummus with pine nuts and lamb, lamb sfeeha, tabbouleh salad and a favourite the fattet aubergine- baked aubergine with nuts, tomatoes and yoghurt.

Absolutely visit KINZ for the food, the interiors and the wonderfully friendly service

What a treat to visit @bordehillgarden to celebrate the launch of their new Greenhouse Restaurant, Isca @iscabordehill, beautifully designed by @nixbynicolaharding with fabrics and wallpaper by mollymahon.

The menu was a fresh, creative and colourful trio of courses, incorporating roses throughout in celebration of the Rose Garden, home to 750 @david_austin_roses, including their newest variety, The David Beckham. If you’re curious, it carries notes of banana and nutmeg.

We began with cured trout and pickled rose, followed by seabass with Sichuan and padrón peppers, before finishing with white chocolate, white peach and rose granita.

The Greenhouse is wonderful and the gardens are beautiful. Thank you to @jayrgoddard, Managing Director and fifth-generation family custodian of Borde Hill, as well as Mark, Head Gardener, and Julia, who has overseen the reinvention of the Walled Garden, for your time and for sharing your knowledge, passion and enthusiasm.
