Strangers Alike

I switched seats as an old couple was separated. It was only me so I was happy to switch seats and they were grateful. I sat behind as couples filled most of the theatre. The row I switched to, I couldn’t help but realize were just women. Two Galentines on my right and on the left…a beautiful woman. She was dressed chic in a LBD and gold earrings. Hair with a homemade blowout. She was around my age. No one was next to her. The movie came on. I ordered a burger with fries. She ordered a burger and fries. I ordered an expresso martini. She ordered a vodka tonic. The movie was one of the horniest movies with clothes on and we understood the character, Catherine. A tragic, painful romance. We cried at the end. The lights came on. I was in no rush to leave. She was in no rush to leave. I wondered, was she like me? I don’t know, but i felt comfort knowing I had the same idea as this girl next to me. I was not alone on Valentines. 💌
