Proof that it’s never too late to start something that’s yours. 🎉
Two years ago, at 58 as a mum of teens, with a full-time job… I started my travel business.
No experience in the travel industry, but just like you .. lots of life experience and a love of travel! I took a decision to take a chance on ME.
Now:
✈️ £300k in travel bookings and dab commission income earned!
✈️ 19 others launched into their own travel business
✈️ Creating real, passive income
✈️ Building around my 9-5 and my family
✈️ Living with JOY

We don’t travel just to see new places… we travel to FEEL more alive! ☀️✈️🥂

Blue skies, sunshine, fabulous friends, lots of laughter and memories that will last long after the tans have faded! 🇵🇹❤️

Because surely that’s what life is all about? Making memories, sharing experiences and having more adventures with the people we love.

And the older I get, the more I realise that I don’t want to collect things… I want to collect memories! ❤️

More spontaneous weekends away, more new destinations, more sunshine, more laughter and more reasons to pack a suitcase!

One of the things I absolutely LOVE about having my own travel business is that travel has become an even bigger part of my life. I’m constantly discovering new places, sharing ideas and finding inspiration for the next adventure.

More travel. More memories. More fun. More LIFE! ✈️

Who knew there were perks to the kids growing up and not needing us quite so much?! ☀️🍷

A few fabulous days in Portugal with friends, soaking up the October sunshine, enjoying long lunches, plenty of laughs and a little bit of freedom!

I absolutely loved our family holidays when the boys were younger, but I’m rather enjoying this new chapter too!

Being able to pack a bag, jump on a plane and enjoy a few days away without worrying about school holidays or who’s looking after the kids!

And Portugal in October? Absolutely fabulous! 🇵🇹☀️

And one of the things I love most about having my own travel business? Not only can I earn from booking my own trips, but I have the flexibility to work from wherever I happen to be. And I’m building an additional income to help fund more adventures along the way!

It’s a business that fits around my life, rather than the other way round.

Here’s to making the most of this stage of life, saying YES to more adventures, new opportunities and never losing our sense of fun! 🥂

Who decided Gen X women should be slowing down? Because I think we’re only just getting started! ❤️

We’ve built careers, raised families, run households, navigated life’s ups and downs and become pretty good at juggling just about everything!

And now? We’re asking ourselves a different question…

What do I want the NEXT chapter of my life to look like?

And we’re not alone!

Research suggests that 42% of female business owners surveyed started their businesses after 40. We’re part of a generation of women who are embracing new opportunities and doing things on OUR terms.

I started my travel business at 58, having already run a business for over 20 years.

Not because I wanted to work harder or prove anything to anyone.

But because I wanted MORE.

❤️ More freedom
💰 More financial security and choices
✈️ More travel and adventures
✨ More purpose and excitement
🥂 More fun with fabulous, positive people!

And one of the loveliest surprises has been meeting so many other women who want the same things.

Women building something alongside their 9–5. Women whose children are becoming independent. Women ready for a change. And women who simply aren’t ready to put their feet up!

Because here’s the thing…

We have the experience, the resilience, the confidence and the ambition. And we’ve still got plenty of energy!

We’re not starting from scratch. We’re starting from experience.

So perhaps this isn’t about slowing down at all.

Perhaps Gen X is just getting warmed up! 🔥

I’m a Gen Z building a life that enables me to go off when I feel like it and spend time in wonderful places with my fav people.

It’s not rocket science .. and no I’m not squandering a nest egg or spending secret millions that I’ve been stashing away.. instead I’m growing a business that gives me all the freedom to live life on my terms.

I’ve pivoted.. changed direction at the ripe old age of 58 and I’m lovely every moment!

I’m using my life experience and having a go at something new that fills me with joy and gives me choices!!

Life’s too short to stay stuck and it’s never late to jump into something new!

There was a time I’d sit in the hairdresser’s chair scrolling through holidays and probably end up booking one for myself… 😂✈️

Today I sat in exactly the same chair and booked a holiday for a client.

The difference?

This time I earned commission from the booking and it more than paid for my hair! 💇‍♀️🙌

It’s these little moments that still make me smile.

I started my travel business because I LOVE travel, but I also wanted to create an extra income that fitted around my life.

I can work from pretty much anywhere including the hairdresser’s chair! 😂

Same love of holidays.
Same me.
Just now, my love of travel earns me money too. ✈️❤️

Here are 4 things I’m focusing on:

1. Creating another income stream.
I want greater financial security and more choices in the years ahead.
For me, that meant building something of my own without having to turn my life upside down to do it.

2. Learning new things.
Social media. Reels. Technology. A completely new industry.
I started at 58 and so much of this was new to me.
Turns out, we’re absolutely not too old to learn, grow or start something new.

3. Having FUN!
This one matters.
I don’t just want to earn more, I want to enjoy the years ahead.
Travel. New experiences. New friendships. Laughter. Being around positive people. Doing something that gives me energy rather than drains it.

4. Creating the LIFE I want.
Our children need us differently now.
And after years of life revolving around everyone else, perhaps this is the time to ask:

What do I want for ME?

More freedom. More travel. More choices. More financial security. And definitely more fun.

I can’t go back and start at 40 or 50.

But I CAN decide what I do with the next 10 years.

I started my travel business at 58.

And I’m very glad I didn’t decide I was too old.

Just imagine what you could build — and how much fun you could have — if you started now. ❤️✈️

From driverless cars in Miami to our travel training day in Bath, sausages & mash to M&S mince pies.. tonight’s Monday Escape was another fun packed chat about all the things that bring us joy!!!

Confidence doesn’t come before you start. It grows because you start. ❤️

When I started my travel business two years ago, I had absolutely no social media experience. I actually opened my Instagram account because I’d started my business!

This video? It took me 25 takes just to record one talking story. 😂

I stumbled over my words. Started again. Forgot what I wanted to say. Started again.

But I kept having a go.

And that’s how I’ve learnt so many of the skills I have today.

Not because I suddenly became confident.
Not because I knew what I was doing.
But because I was willing to try, make mistakes, learn, get support and try again.

So if confidence is the thing holding you back from starting something new, please don’t wait for it to magically arrive.

Start before you feel ready.
Have a go.
The confidence will catch up. ❤️

And if you’re wondering whether you could build a travel business without having all the skills or confidence right now… you absolutely don’t need to have it all figured out on day one.
