PSA for all of us dog lovers!

Someone innocently gave Jasper a grape yesterday. I found out about two hours after he ate it. I called the vet and they said bring him ASAP.

Grapes are VERY toxic to dogs and can cause acute kidney failure. They don’t know which dog will become toxic and which won’t. So best to be on the cautious side and get him to the vet. They pumped his stomach and ‘found most of the grape’ they gave him charcoal to absorb any toxins that may have entered his system. Since we caught it quickly the vet said his kidneys will likely be ok. We will do blood work again tomorrow to make sure his kidneys weren’t affected. Sheesh! It scared me!!!

Please make sure all who interact with your dog know what foods are toxic to them! Even big dogs like ours can have kidney failure over one grape. The vet had a 120lbs dog die when he ate five grapes!! by @cathyrockert
