I saw this trend and couldnโ€™t stop thinking about it. Maybe being โ€œchicโ€ has a lot less to do with what we wear and a lot more to do with how we choose to live. These are a few things I hope never go out of style. honestlyโ€ฆI think this might become a little series. ๐Ÿค Because I have a feeling there are a lot more โ€œkinda chicโ€ opinions where these came from. Iโ€™d love to knowโ€ฆ Whatโ€™s something you think is kinda chic that has nothing to do with clothes? by @catrena.magic
Summer styling doesnโ€™t have to mean buying a whole new wardrobe. โ˜€๏ธ One of my favorite things about using @nuuly is getting to try pieces I probably wouldnโ€™t buyโ€”but absolutely love wearing for a season. This embroidered top completely surprised me. The sailboats, lighthouse details, and little pops of red instantly felt like summer. I paired it with wide-leg jeans for an easy brunch outfit, but I can also picture it with white shorts red sandals straw bag a weekend by the water Itโ€™s a fun reminder that one special piece can completely change the feel of an outfit. Thatโ€™s become my favorite way to approach summer style: keep the basics simple and add a few seasonal pieces that make getting dressed feel fresh. How would you style this top? @nuuly #nuulypicks #nuulypicks by @catrena.magic
There are a lot of character meals at Disney World. But Garden Grill is one I confidently recommend over and over again. It feels slower. Quieter. More intentional. The characters donโ€™t rush through the room. They come back around multiple times. The atmosphere feels calm instead of chaotic, which honestly can be such a gift in the middle of a busy EPCOT day. And maybe Iโ€™m partial as a farmerโ€™s wifeโ€ฆ but Chip & Dale with the harvest theme, Mickey in overalls, and the slow rotation through Living with the Land just makes this one feel extra special to me. The food is simple in the best way, the interactions feel personal, and itโ€™s one of the few meals where I leave feeling more connected instead of overstimulated. This is the kind of Disney planning I care about most: finding the places that make a trip feel softer, slower, and more memorable for families. If youโ€™re planning an EPCOT day and want help choosing whatโ€™s actually worth your time, Iโ€™d love to help. ๐ŸคŽ by @catrena.magic
Can I make a case for the little red dress? Everyone talks about investing in a little black dress, but my little red dress gets worn just as much. It works for: โ€ข Fourth of July โ€ข Christmas โ€ข Valentineโ€™s Day โ€ข Memorial Day โ€ข Summer vacations โ€ข Date nights Throw on a denim jacket, cardigan, sweater, or tights and it completely changes. Iโ€™d rather own fewer pieces that I genuinely love than a closet full of โ€œone-time outfits.โ€ โค๏ธ Team Little Red Dress? by @catrena.magic
Sometimes God sends the sweetest little reminders that what we do matters. ๐Ÿค One of my students recently took her son to Disney World, and of course, my Disney-loving heart was thrilled for them! We chatted about their trip, and when she returned, she surprised me with the sweetest little gift. ๐Ÿฅน If you work in education, nursing, or any profession centered on serving others, you know how much of your heart goes into your work. You want to give so much, and some days, you leave wishing you could have given more. And then God sends a little reminder like this. Itโ€™s never about the gift itself. Itโ€™s the thoughtfulness, the relationships, and the privilege of being a small part of someone elseโ€™s story. So very thankful for my students, for the work God has called me to do, and for the little reminders of joy He places along the way. ๐Ÿค by @catrena.magic
My teachers turned my desk toward the wall so I wouldnโ€™t talk to anyone, and I was occasionally sent to walk laps to burn off some energy.๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Hyperactivity doesnโ€™t always look the way we expect it to. Research shows that boys with ADHD are more likely, on average, to exhibit noticeable hyperactive and impulsive behaviors, while girls are more frequently identified with inattentive symptoms. But girls can absolutely experience hyperactivity, too. Excessive talking, restlessness, interrupting, difficulty remaining seated, and feeling constantly on the go are all behaviors associated with the hyperactive-impulsive presentation of ADHD. And sometimes those behaviors are interpreted through the lens of personality. Of course, being outgoing or talkative doesnโ€™t mean someone has ADHD. Diagnosis involves a persistent pattern of symptoms that affects functioning across settings. But looking back through the lens of my adult ADHD diagnosis in college, I can certainly recognize some of those early patterns. And now, as a psychology instructor myself, I have an entirely different appreciation for both the science and the teachers who were trying to manage all that energy! Sometimes the signs make a lot more sense in hindsight. by @catrena.magic

For the record, itโ€™s a plaid matching set. Plaid is in. Matching sets are in. Apparently, the jury is still out on whether theyโ€™re appropriate for higher education. ๐Ÿ˜‚ by @catrena.magic
This week weโ€™ve been studying neurons โ€” their structure, how they communicate, and eventually, what all of that means when we talk about neuroplasticity. And this is one of those concepts I never get tired of teaching.๐Ÿฅน Neuroplasticity reminds us that the brain changes in response to experience, attention, repetition, and practice. The things we repeatedly do MATTER!!!! Our habits matter. What we consistently give our attention to matters. The environments we spend time in matter. That is such a powerful thing for a college student to understand. They may not remember every part of a neuron years from now. They may forget the vocabulary. But if they leave my classroom understanding that the brain can adapt, that learning takes repetition, that habits can strengthen patterns, and that growth is possible โ€” they can carry that understanding with them for years. And that brings me so much joy.๐Ÿฅน Teaching is not always easy. Education is changing quickly, and there are days when the challenges feel heavier than others. But then I look around a classroom and see students making connections, creating something from what theyโ€™ve learned, asking better questions, or simply understanding one idea a little more clearly than they did before. And Iโ€™m reminded how grateful I am that God has allowed me to do this work. To teach. To encourage. To help someone understand their own mind a little better. And on the hard days, that is a joy I donโ€™t want to lose. by @catrena.magic
August + September had some good ones, but Iโ€™m not gonna lieโ€ฆ summer is NOT my season. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Iโ€™ve done my time. Iโ€™ve pretended 87ยฐ is โ€œtransitional weather.โ€ I am READY. Bring me layers. Bring me weird little jackets. Bring me loafers & socks. Bring me trench coats and scarves. ๐Ÿ‚ October, Iโ€™ve been waiting for you. #EverydayStyle #FallStyle #TeacherStyle #DopamineDressing #OutfitInspo by @catrena.magic
I love the reminder from @drstacysims that โ€œathleteโ€ doesnโ€™t have to mean professional, sponsored, or elite. For a lot of womenโ€”especially momsโ€”we minimize what weโ€™re doing because nobody is paying us to TRAIN or we donโ€™t have a competition in order. But if youโ€™re consistently moving, strength training, adapting, recovering, fueling, and asking your body to performโ€ฆ that matters. And I think women deserve to take their training seriously enough to support their bodies accordingly. No contract required. by @catrena.magic
Disney released several new 2027 offers, and the tricky part is that the biggest advertised savings may not actually be the best deal for your trip. If you need both a resort and park tickets, the package offer may be the first one to compare. If you already have tickets or want more flexibility, the room-only offer may make more sense. And if youโ€™re an eligible Disney Visa cardmember traveling this spring, thereโ€™s another room discount worth checking. The best option depends on your dates, resort, tickets, and length of stay โ€” which is why I always look at the whole vacation, not just the percentage. And one last thing: donโ€™t let a discount choose your season. Pick the time of year that works best for your family first, then compare the savings around it. If 2027 Disney is on your radar, send me your dates and Iโ€™ll help you figure out which offer is actually worth looking at. ๐Ÿค #DisneyWorldPlanning #DisneyTravelAdvisor #DisneyDiscounts #Disney2027 #WaltDisneyWorld by @catrena.magic
