BFF week 2! Category was Legend!! Stuck to my meme queen roots and did a deep dive on Jay McCrossin, whose 2016 fashion blog photo got turned into a meme in 2019. It was so cool to learn about them and to get to teach other people about their fashion blog and their activism, and to remember that behind all our favorite memes are real people, some of whom are cool and queer and!!!! Legendary. Loving getting to know my competitors better as the competition progresses, especially for this week’s partner challenge! BFF Week 2 Runway- Red Lobster
Was this number kind of long? Yes. Did it go through several rounds of edits before I hit the stage? Also yes. Thanks again to my mentor @kitsch_y for all the help storyboarding, editing, blocking, costuming, prop making, and eventually performing. I genuinely could not have done this without you. This performance was how I’d wanted to start, so we’ll call intro week a warmup and week 1 my debut lol. I felt confident and happy and like I was able to execute at least most of what I had planned. I still got a little too excited going into the audience, but for the same reason as last time- the crowd was full of people I love and I was so excited to be there with them and to feel the energy I was getting from them that I started to focus on that instead!! Can’t complain!! See if I can keep this positive streak going TONIGHT at Splash and 9pm. by @cats3019drag

BFF Week 1 Runway- Red Lobster
This outfit was made by my mentor @kitsch_y out of Red Lobster bibs and a belt. We had to get creative with attaching it because it was resistant to so many types of glues, but when we started tying it together it took on a completely different (and honestly better) silhouette than initially planned, so we went with it. The nails were fishing lures, once again courtesy of Kitch. The lobster headpiece, a Gaga homage (who’s surprised) was stoned by @tiny.miracle , who also took all of these photos! Shoutout to @yur.unkle who let me swipe their drink after I’d had one too many bites of biscuit. See if I can turn another look on the runway TONIGHT at Splash and 9pm. by @cats3019drag

It finally happened! I performed in drag for the first time for the intro week of BFF. It didn’t go exactly how I wanted, but for the best reason- I was having so much fun and was so delighted to be surrounded by my friends and family as I moved through the crowd that I completely forgot to do most of what I had rehearsed! But I still got a chance to show off my reveal I’d worked so hard on (even if it was after my performance was technically over). Then, I got to find out who my mentor was- one of my friends and favorite performers from last cycle, Kitch Annette! Kitch gifted me an adorable matching best friends necklace!!! I feel so lucky to have Kitch as a mentor and have already learned so much preparing for tonight’s show. I can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on!!!! Come out TONIGHT to Splash Chicago at 9pm to see what me and my besties have been cooking up for you!!!
