MECHANANGGAL
Filipinx mythology meets science fiction- it’s my take on the manananggal.

Aside from my general love for myth and sci fi, it was an upcoming piece written by @m00nyeka that got me in the mindset to create this. I’ll let them speak for their own work, but for now will just say that it’s the kind of sci fi that I was pining for. Very trans, very whoreific, very Filipinx. It hit all the notes.

We all get our creative energy from many places but it’s special to be inspired by the brilliance of friends. Please follow them on IG @m00nyeka and on substack by the same name.

I’m putting energy out there for large scale work this year. Always a pleasure doing custom ideas as well, I’m just an email away.

Available to be tattooed as a back piece. Email angelamariatattoos@gmail.com taken in Los Angeles, California by @catthroat

The commitment it takes to get a large scale, personalized tattoo is worth the effort.

Some people come in hot with a great idea. He thought, what better than to get Hernan Cortés being impaled in a bullfighting scene. I had no notes, I could see the image clearly in my head before I started drawing.

I love a revisionist, fantastical history to galvanize the dream of a more liberatory future ✨

If you’re ready to move forward with your next tattoo, the link in my bio has more information on how to book
