๐ŸŒพ Happy National Farmerโ€™s Day! ๐Ÿšœ When you get dressed in the morning, eat breakfast, head to class, or sit down for dinner, agriculture has already played a role in your day. But how often do we stop to think about the people behind it all? ๐Ÿ‘– Fun fact: One bale of cotton can produce more than 200 pairs of jeans or 1,200 T-shirts! ๐ŸŒฝ Corn is used for more than food. It also plays a role in livestock feed, fuel, and countless everyday products. ๐Ÿฅฉ From the beef on our plates to the cotton in our clothes, agriculture touches nearly every part of our lives. In fact, agriculture, food, and related industries contributed approximately 5.5% of the U.S. economy in 2023. But behind every crop harvested and every animal raised is a farmer or rancher making decisions, adapting to challenges, caring for the land, and working to provide for others. Their work depends on weather, markets, science, technology, and countless hours of dedication that most consumers never get to see. Growing up in agriculture has taught me that farming is about so much more than producing a product. Itโ€™s about stewardship, resilience, family, community, and providing for the next generation. Every single one of us depends on it. As Miss Northeast Texas, my platform is Empowering and Equipping the Next Generation of Agriculture Leaders. I believe the future of agriculture depends not only on supporting todayโ€™s producers but also on helping the next generation understand where their food, clothing, and everyday necessities come fromโ€”and inspiring them to be part of the future of this industry.
