of course I forgot to post this here 😅 some of you may remember the video I did about a month ago observing that Frodo couldn’t have achieved his quest without Aragorn’s sword at his back and Sam’s box of Shire salt to buoy his spirits. defeating evil takes strength of all kinds.

after I made that video, I couldn’t stop thinking about the visual of salt and the sword. so I made it. Aragorn’s sword Andúril, in a swirl of many salts, with some athelas (which Sam knew as kingsfoil) for good measure. I put it on some stickers and mugs and shirts, and I’m donating 100% of the profits (as well as any additional donations you make at checkout) to @raleighcityfarm, who provides food to other local organizations that address food insecurity. I think Samwise Gamgee would like that.

link in bio! thank you to everyone who’s bought something so far 💚 I’m gonna try to add more designs as I get feedback and see what folks like the best. 🗡️🧂 by @cavatica

near the end of my shift today, I did a quick reenactment of how I’ve spent the last several shifts: pulling books down, one by one by one, and updating their prices or moving them to the dollar shelves. this afternoon was pretty quiet, and I spent the last hours working to a soft soundtrack of Mozart, Elliott Smith, and Israel Kamakawiwoʻole and thinking about what a privilege it is to have a wrist cramp from being paid to touch too many books. by @cavatica

two years ago today, this little sock thief agreed to come live with me and start to heal my heart from losing Annie, on the conditions that: 1) she enjoy a minimum of three (3) car rides a week; 2) she can put her butt on whoever she wants, whenever she wants; 3) she never, ever, under any circumstances, be long parted from @whtdramsmaycome. I agreed to her terms, and I think we have both done a pretty good job of holding up our ends of the bargain. happy gotcha day to my sweet Star, light of my life, brightest in the sky. 🌟🐶🐮 by @cavatica
