What started as a Christmas gift for @jefferyboltonjbs (who makes custom baits) has turned into an impromptu hobby for @ugoboy1965. I think he’s really rocking this shadow box game. Jeff will be selling these beauties alongside his custom lures at a couple upcoming spring markets. by @cavenderdiaryjames

Great morning of picking treasures at the #timetravelersvintageexpo at Fair Park. So many goodies, not nearly enough funds. by @cavenderdiaryjames

I have a love/fear relationship with estate sales. As much as I love sorting thru, and judging, a person’s lifetime of accumulated possessions they always sharply remind me of my own mortality. When this unbelievable sale about an hour from my house appeared on my radar this week I knew I couldn’t pass. The home owner had been a career librarian and an “appreciator” of all the same things I like. The sale was heavily advertised as a vintage Christmas collector’s fever dream, and it certainly was…. at least it was for the 120 collectors who were waiting in line in front of me. Although I didn’t find any ornaments I thought I’d share my scores; a #Steiff Teddy Bear, a #FtWorthRodeo table card advertising #TanyaTucker, a couple #Rosbro Easter candy containers, a few #Barclay lead sleighs/sled, vintage glass candy containers (I already have a revolver but this is my first telephone), and a set of 6 Spode double old fashioned Christmas glasses (I realize these have seen better days, but I imagine those days were festive family celebrations) All these items used to belong to someone else, l’ll be their keeper for a while…. then one day they’ll move on to new owners/appreciators. by @cavenderdiaryjames
