This year I dedicated my first solo to my grandfather, who passed away from cancer in December of 2024, as a way to honor his memory and keep him close to me. He meant so much to me, and losing him was one of the hardest things I’ve gone through. Every time I danced, I thought about him and the love and support he always gave me. This solo wasn’t just a performance, it was a way to express my emotions, remember him, and feel connected to him again. Doing this dance gave me strength and comfort, and it meant everything to be able to share that piece of my heart with him. I know that he would be so proud of me today, and is watching me from above🩷

I would never be able to do what I do today without my mom. My mom is the reason I am the person I am today, and I truly don’t know where I’d be without her. She has supported me through every step of my dance journey, from long practices to stressful performances, always reminding me of my strength even when I doubted myself. Dance has taught me discipline and passion, but my mom is the one who showed me what it really means to be dedicated and resilient. She’s been my biggest supporter, my motivation, and my safe place, and everything I achieve, (on and off the dance floor,) is because of the love and guidance she’s given me.

Another person who has poured so much into me is my coach, @brehanwhitehead. She’s pushed me past my limits, believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself, and taught me the true meaning of hard work and dedication. Through every correction, every practice, and every performance, she’s helped me grow stronger and more confident. Dance wouldn’t mean nearly as much to me without her guidance and support, and I’m so grateful for everything she’s poured into me🩷

I’m so thankful for @rhondawhiteheads_studio, it has always felt like my second home, and I’m so grateful for all the friends that this studio has given me🫶 by @cayceedurr
