Posting on social media has been so hard for me. I really want to be intentional with everything and I’ve been so busy. Regardless, it’s never too late to celebrate myself :)
On May 1st, I received an Outstanding Performance Award for my work at The Alden Theatre. When I started this job, I was just looking for something stable that was involved with theatre. I didn’t know when I accepted this job almost two years ago, I would get to work with the most incredible dream team. I wouldn’t have been able to do the work I do, or have it recognized without the amazing people I work with.
I’m forever grateful to have a survival job that genuinely brings me joy (& stress, but what job doesn’t lol). I’m fulfilled to see the youth of the community impacted by so many creative programs. Programs that I’m entrusted to run, change, problem solve and improve by imagining what my younger self would’ve loved and benefited from.

As I got older, I started to understand why some people didn’t see shows and felt unwelcome there. I’ve felt that uncomfortable feeling while working FOH. It’s an insane feeling, especially in a space that’s supposed to be built on collaboration & community.
I’ve learned a lot at my job and after some time I begin to think about more than just my own experiences. From a young age my passion or my why has always been black women and mental health. In a community center, you have to keep everyone in mind, not just yourself. At the end of the day no one should ever come into a space to enjoy or support artistry and feel unwelcome. Whether that’s because of prejudice, lack of accessibility, or whatever else should never be overlooked.
I’m proud that as I’m building the foundation of my future, something I can say I helped with is making sure everyone who stepped in our theatre felt like they belonged and were welcome. Art is for everyone. Last but not least I have to thank my family! I’m so grateful to have each of you in my corner by @caylahall__

It’s so hard for me to post after a show closes for many reasons
1. Life be lifeing HARD
2. In my brain if I don’t post we can possibly get a mysterious extension 🥲

Thank you Dwayne & Drew for writing such a beautiful piece of work. Truthfully I was starting to get drained from doing so many TYA shows. A lot of the stories I was telling felt the similar to the last with the same target audience each time. Midiculous was so beautifully unique. (Likeee a TYA for middle schoolers!!!)

It’s an honor to have been trusted to embody L’Apostrophe and to share her bold, boisterous, and misunderstood self with so many midschoolers who can relate to her. L’Apostrophe doesn’t have imposter syndrome, Cayla does 😂 Being cast in this role was surprising to me. Until I remember I am HER. I can’t thank the most amazing director, Savinia enough for seeing that within me and for allllll the hard work they poured in this production.

Midiculous was life changing! It bought back my joy for TYA. I walked into the show grateful each day to see how excited and joyful the students responded to us. THIS CAST!! The talent, love, and support we all gave to the show and eachother. I love yall so much. GATORS4LIFE🐊

Okay fine, I’ll post about the show closing 😭 since it’s clearly not getting an extension. I never wanted it to close.
Playing Romeo (as a stud!!) was something I never imagined doing, but I’m so thankful for the team who believed in me and for the queer joy this show brought into my life.

Q1 was giving birthday baddie energy, Black & women’s history in motion, and a whole lotta growth. I understudied for a national tour at the Kennedy Center, booked and gym-adjacent, unlocked a new job era, and co-produced an award-winning teen improv group. I traveled, caught hella shows, loved loud, made new friends, and even became an Eagles fan (???). Most importantly, I tapped back in with little Cayla and stayed surrounded by love.

✨From backstage to the producer’s chair (with a few surprise stage moments too)✨

Wrapped Chicken & Biscuits as ASM + cameo queen 🐔💒 and produced my first show, Stuart Little 🐭💛—and my heart is so full.

Shoutout to the entire cast of Chicken & Biscuits for being so amazing and holding me down through all the stressful moments. And to my best friend Kayla, who is truly my heart—I couldn’t have made it through without you.

Going from high school theatre to professional settings is wild, but I’m constantly reminded why I love this. I’ll always be so grateful.

Big love to the cast and crew of Stuart Little for bringing back the joy of storytelling and reminding me how much I love working with young artists. Y’all brought the magic back.
