THE EMPYREAN IS UP TO SOMETHING!!! 👀

We’re not sure what, but definitely something 😂 Threshing day has left us with more questions than answers and our theories have gotten out of hand! We will be stuck in this rabbit hole for the foreseeable future 🫡

What do you think the dragons are up to?

The halloween word stack challenge! And trust me, it was a challenge 😅 but it gave me a reason to stare at my books for a couple of hours!

@saras.reading.nook challenged me to do the word ‘Witch’. So we have:

What lies beyond the veil - Harper L Woods
Immortal Longings - Chloe Gong
Throne of the Fallen - Kerri Maniscalco
Crescent City - Sarah J Maas
Haunting Adeline - H.D Carlton

If you are up for a halloween stack challenge, I challenge you to use either ‘trick’ or ‘treat’ 🎃.

Currently reading Threshing Day by Rebecca Yarros! ✨ So far, Imogen and Garrick’s chapters are my favourite!

I bonded with a lovely orange morningstartail for my threshing!! 😃 who knew I just needed to roar back at my dragon in order to bond! So excited to see which signet I will get.

How many times did you die before bonding?

Our Dark Incantations - Wanda Hellmund
Dark Academia Romantasy
Pub date: 20 October 2026
Minor spoilers
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Right, now that I have wiped my tears I am ready to write this review. This book gave me all the feels, shock, fear, hope, gasps, feet kicking and tears!

I loved Mira and Aidric’s relationship. We had banter, flirting and enough chemistry to make me blush! “Do you want to be good for me?” (I squealed!!). Oh, what it must be like to have the most powerful wielder besotted with you.

We have white magic, dark magic that comes at a price, demons, wonderfully written side characters and sin. “What is your sin?” “Darling, all of them”.

Okay, I need to stop here before I give too much away! If you are looking for your next dark academia, enemies-to-lovers, magic murder mystery, this is for you! But I have to warn you, have your tissues ready.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC

It is Kiss of the Black Flame release day! ✨

This was such a good book! If you want to read about an FMC in her 30’s and a touch starved MMC sealing a deadly bargain with a kiss, then this one is for you! 🖤🔥

Have you read Kiss of the Black Flame or is it on your TBR?

The Knave and the Moon - Rachel Gillig
Gothic Romantasy
Major spoiler warning!
⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really enjoyed this book! I loved the multiple POV, Rory’s backstory (my heart!) and Bartholomew had me laughing just as much as the first book. “Have a care for my virtue!”

I really thought we were seeing a Benji redemption arc but I was SO wrong! 😅 I felt personally betrayed by him.

I felt the shock and sadness alongside the other characters when Maude saved the sprite. But before I was able to wipe my tears, Bartholomew was going into the spring. It felt like I wasn’t able to mourn and process Maude’s death before Bartholomew’s happened, which for me, took away from the impact.

The tourneys kept me engaged with the overall story, and I loved how in the beginning, the reader is kept in the dark about the plans. It was fun to see it play out from Sybil’s perspective, whereas with the previous book we were in the know with the plans.

I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it! I will be quoting Bartholomew for the foreseeable future.

Was I prepared for the heartbreak?
I was never ready
Has this series become my new personality?
Of course
Did Benji fool me?

This Woven Kingdom - Tahereh Mafi
Young Adult Romantasy
Minor spoilers in final thoughts
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have finally read this book after it has been sitting on my tbr for ages! Doing it as a buddy read with @saras.reading.nook just made the whole experience so much more fun! As a massive Shatter Me fan, I had high expectations and omg did this book leave my jaw on the floor 😲

I am trying to make this review as spoiler free as possible because I would highly recommend going in blind. As I was reading, I had so many theories on where the story will go, and I was so wrong every time 😅

The story is beautifully written and I immediately fell in love with our main characters. I highly recommend picking this up!! I will definitely be reading the rest of this series and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I really want to see some character art but I am so scared of spoilers! Please tag me in or send me spoiler free character art 😅😌

Final thoughts:
Would I survive Setar?
Me and my nosta will be gone by sunrise
Kamran?
Yes. Next question
Did I see any of that coming?
No. Apparently I know nothing.
