Snippets from this past weekend’s ventriloquist stage performance at the Occoquan Fall Festival. I had brought my own headset mic to enhance the suspension of disbelief, but that decision quickly backfired with bursts of static feedback (my mics fault, not theirs). As I stumbled through my act in a state of silent panic, the mic finally went full-on kaput. Five minutes in, I was forced to accept defeat and swap it out, accepting the unwelcome gift of technical difficulties. Once that glitch was handled though, things thankfully moved onward and upward. My actual book reading, where my confidence finally returned and even soared, turned out to be the show’s highlight. Dragon’s peaceful slumber - my latest art therapy project. One of the books I recently read inspired me to paint this dragon on a stone slate. Even the fiercest surrender to gentle slumber and dream.
