“What’s your budget?”

Possible one of the most awkward questions to ask when you’re planning your wedding cake.

But I promise your cake designer isn’t asking because we’re trying to spend every penny.

We’re asking because your budget helps us design the right cake for you.

Your budget isn’t something we judge. It’s a design tool.

A wedding cake can vary massively in price depending on the number of tiers, design details, sugar work, delivery and set up.

So when you tell me your budget, I can work with it. Maybe that means keeping the design exactly as you imagined, or maybe it means simplifying certain details or reducing the size.

Or maybe it means telling you honestly that the Pinterest cake you’ve fallen in love with needs a bigger budget, and helping you find a way to get a similar feel for less.

I don’t design based on guesses. I design based on vision and priorities.

If you’re planning your wedding and want a cake that feels completely you, I would love to work with you. by @cbcakedesign

Not every wedding cake needs a table…

Sometimes it deserves a little space of its own.

These are the first previews of our shoot at Rosebery House: statement styling, romantic florals, and a floor standing cake taking centre stage. Modern in its lines, vintage in its mood.

Every supplier pulled in the same direction and you can see it in the details.

Thank you to the incredible team who made this happen 🤍

The trick: it looks like a real flower…

The treat: it’s made from sugar…

Each flower is built petal by petal, cut, veined, shaped and dusted to bring it to life.

Designed to last long after the cake has been cut ❤️

Will you be having sugar flowers on your wedding cake?

It makes my day to see cake cutting shots like this, captured so beautifully by @isaaccraigphotography

M & L had a clear vision for their cake. The pearls echoed the beading on the brides dress and the dusky blue bow tied in with their colour palette for the day.

It was a pleasure to be back at @broxmouthcourtyard, which looked beautiful even on a cold October morning.

Congratulations again, I hope you had the best day 💙 by @cbcakedesign

It always starts with a sketch…

This is the drawing my couple fell in love with, and this is the cake that was created from it. Same lines, same details, just in fondant. 🖤

I design every cake around my couple, so no two sketch’s look the same.

Diary open for 2027 & 2028 🖤 by @cbcakedesign

Can I see your work?

Of course…

8 years designing for weddings across Scotland has taught me that the cake couples remember isn’t the biggest or the most elaborate. It’s the one that feels most like them, and tastes even better than it looks.

Not everyone wants a traditional cake and that’s completely fine.

A macaron tower is one of my favourite alternatives. There’s no cake cutting so guests can just help themselves.

This one was styled to tie in with the colourful floral arrangements. Some couples choose a tower instead of cake. Others have one alongside their cake for an extra treat. Both work beautifully.

Save this idea for your wedding planning. 🤍
