It was a zoo! This week at Shir L'Shabbat, babies, tots, and their parents packed the Social Hall to hear the story of Noah's Ark and greet the animals, who got stuck in traffic on the way to shul from the petting zoo. Happens to the best of us! We are so glad they made it, and so glad so many of you did, too. by @cbebk

Over the next five days, Rabbi Rachel Timoner and Assistant Rabbi Evan Traylor will lead a group of CBE members on an intensive trip to Israel and Palestine to listen, learn, and engage in dialogue with Israelis and Palestinians whose lives have been shaped by the ongoing conflict.

Follow along on CBE’s Instagram Stories for updates from their travels.

On October 30, we invite the wider CBE community to join us for Shabbat Dinner in the Rotunda, where trip participants will share their experiences and reflections.

As the 5787 year continues to unfold, we’re excited to start a monthly series highlighting the CBE Music Team!

Cantor Josh Breitzer has served as cantor and music director since 2011. Under his unique artistic stewardship, CBE has become a beacon of dynamic, pluralistic ritual activity, attracting international attention and growing to over 1400 families.

This rendition of Uzi Hitman’s rousing “Adon Olam,” from the end of Erev Rosh Hashanah services, captures the joy and vibrancy of CBE as a full-throated singing community!

On the third yahrzeit of October 7, the CBE community continues to grieve for all those killed, wounded and captured in the terrorist attack and its aftermath. With hearts heavy, we pray for and stand with those who are healing from unimaginable pain and suffering—in Israel, Gaza, the West Bank, and across the world. And as ever, we recommit ourselves to a future where peace is not only possible, but inevitable.

We also share here a story of the resilience of two victims of the attacks who are close to us at CBE, Gali and Ziv Berman. On October 7, they were captured from their home in K’far Aza and survived nearly two years in Gaza. Today, they are learning life anew. We hope you find strength, light, and hope in their example.
