Feeling the passage of time a little harder today than normal with this one today as we made our last attempt at a hike in the mountains. We can’t do a lot of our favorite things together anymore, but I’m grateful for the time left with this boy and to be there to help him through this later phase of life. And that we can still rock the car rides.

Last Wednesday was a somewhat grim anniversary for me - one year since I narrowly survived a year and a half of intimate partner violence, and far from unscathed. Rather than looking back through photos and audio recordings from that period which tend to triple my heart rate, I dove into decoding the guitar part to this tune which accompanied me on my physical and emotional recovery. I thought this song, a desperate plea for peace in the midst of shattering love, might be worth sharing.
