#releasedonthisday in 1993: "So Tonight That I Might See" by @mazzystar

I have heard the voice of an angel and her name was Hope Sandoval. An essential '90s alt-rock album that influenced dream pop and shoegaze bands for decades to come. Come for the simple melodies of David Roback, stay for the ethereal vibes

#releasedonthisday in 1995: "Washing Machine" by @sonicyouth_official

🌀🌀

#washingmachine may not be the most consistent #sonicyouth album, but some of the songs are so extraordinary that any fan would defiantly want this. It simultaneously creates a picture of why they are so great and so misunderstood

50 years of Who'story 💥

#releasedonthisday in 1976: "The Story of The Who" by @officialthewho

It was the most exhaustive collection yet assembled and today remains as a worthwhile sampler and good introduction to #thewho

#thestoryofthewho includes tracks from the albums "My Generation", "A Quick One", "The Who Sell Out", "Tommy", "Who’s Next" and "The Who By Numbers", as well as singles that previously appeared on the 1971 compilation "Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy" and a cover of Eddie Cochran’s "Summertime Blues"

100 years ago, John Coltrane was born

#alovesupreme still feels like the source — a record musicians continue to return to, and generations continue to hear differently

The last day of summer
Never felt so cold
The last day of summer
Never felt so old

Lyrically, #thelastdayofsummer is one of several songs that was born out of novels Robert Smith had been writing for his nieces and nephews. Musically, it's the only song on #bloodflowers not written by Smith. It was composed by long-time bassist Simon Gallup

#releasedonthisday in 1987: "The People Who Grinned Themselves to Death" by @thehousemartins

A lovely continuation of the formula established on their debut, with #thehousemartins keeping their sharp melodies, jangly guitars and wonderfully dry sense of humor intact. A charming, consistently strong record from a band whose short career was remarkably effective

40 years of #bluevelvet ‼️

🟦🟨

David Lynch's "Blue Velvet" is celebrating its 40th anniversary this week. Ranked among the greatest films ever made, it remains mysterious, dark and beautiful. Here's Angelo Badalamenti soundtrack for the 1986 film, and this one definitely goes to #soundtracksunday hosted by Scott aka @soundtracksunday

#releasedonthisday in 2001: "Souljacker" by @eelstheband

It's been 25 years now and, although his lyrics on #souljacker don't really compare to #eels earlier work, Mark Oliver Everett almost managed to create another indie masterpiece, punk elements included

40 years of L&R's <<Express>> ❤️

#releasedonthisday in 1986, #express by @loveandrocketsofficial is, without a doubt, the best album of the band and one of the best of the 80s. It influenced a lot of bands in half the world —and specially USA—, it left its mark on an entire generation. #loveandrockets , great, charismatic and stylish band, direct inheritance from the mythical Bauhaus. All aboard...

#releasedonthisday in 1985: "Close To Me" by @thecure

Widely praised as a brilliant, claustrophobic pop masterpiece, #closetome highlights the clever use of minimalist percussion, handclaps, breathy vocals, and low-key bass grooves that create an intimate, padded-cell atmosphere

#releasedonthisday in 1993: "Show" by @thecure

One of those albums that captures all the energy of a really intense and great concert and, accompanied by "Paris", #show is a recording of a great performance of the Wish Tour with the band and their best

This month marks the 50th anniversary of the live album "Stupidity" by @dr.feelgoodtheband and, since today is #fortyfivefriday hosted by @marcotossa , here's the 1976 "Roxette (live)" single that was used to promote this album

Dr. Feelgood possessed a punk energy but also kept one foot in the past. Brilleaux's honking harmonica was pure rock'n'roll blues of the 50's and 60's. Welcome everyone to Canvey Island
