She was a grind at times, but this one fish made it all worthwhile. I'll likely never catch a better or more rewarding fish in my lifetime.
I have to thank my buddies Lars and Kevin for the invite on this trip the last 2 years and getting me hooked on this new addiction. The bar has been set pretty high after this fish.

The late spring extended my ice season more than I had planned, but it also allowed me to get a couple extra days of ice fishing in. These are some of the highlights from the last month on the ice in 2026.

Thanks goes out to all those I spent time with on the ice this season. Some good times were had and some fish were caught.

Likely the largest Brown I will ever land from a small stream. This summer I got to watch this fish swim out from an undercut and inspect a dry fly before inhaling it and then putting up one hell of a fight. After multiple tangles in undercuts and overhanging willows, I got him close enough to realize he was significantly larger than anything I've hooked in a creek before.
