Now that Kiki is cleared for adoption, she is officially starting the search for her forever family. 🩷

Christy Shoop Croix, a talented Texas artist who has a big heart for shelter and rescue dogs, painted this beautiful picture of Kiki. 🐶🎨The painting will be going home with Kiki to whoever her lucky adopter turns out to be.

When I first saw the painting, I broke down crying because I love it so much. 🥹❤️ Christy captured Kiki’s gentle eyes and that unmistakable, adoring stare she gives you when she truly loves someone. It’s the look that makes you feel like you’re the most special person in the world, and anyone who has ever loved a dog like Kiki knows exactly what I’m talking about. What makes the painting even more meaningful is knowing that Christy saw what we see in Kiki.

She saw the sweetness, the tenderness, and the beautiful soul behind those eyes. She captured something that goes beyond what Kiki looks like on the outside. She captured a little piece of who Kiki is. And knowing that someone else recognized and appreciated that same beauty is such a special thing. ❤️

Bully breeds get such a bad reputation from people who have never taken the time to know one, look past the stereotypes, or give them a chance. Too often, dogs like Kiki are judged by their appearance before anyone ever gets to experience their affection, their loyalty, their goofy personalities, or the way they lean into you when all they want is to be close to someone they love.

But those of us who know and love these dogs see something entirely different. We see the soft eyes, the happy wiggles, the full-body cuddles, and the enormous hearts that seem to have an endless supply of love to give. We see dogs who want nothing more than to feel safe, belong to someone, and be loved for exactly who they are. Kiki is such a beautiful reminder of that. 🩷

Now, it’s time for Kiki’s next chapter. We hope her future family will see those same gentle eyes, fall in love with that sweet, adoring face, and discover all the wonderful things about her that we already know and love. by @ccroix

Sweet Billie got adopted! So I thought I’d introduce you to another sweet boy looking for his forever home — Oscar!

This handsome brindle boy is playful, adventurous, and loves exploring, sniffing out new scents, playing with his toys, and watching squirrels. He can be a little shy at first, but treats and love quickly bring out his sweet, loyal personality. Oscar is ready to be someone’s devoted best friend!

I’m continuing my shelter dog adoption initiative by painting dogs looking for their forever homes. Whoever adopts Oscar will receive his original painting as a gift!

To learn more about Oscar or inquire about adoption, contact Rescue ATX Dogs at rescueatxdogs@gmail.com @rescueatxdogs

UPDATE!!! Billie has been adopted! What amazing news!!! I’m back with another shelter-dog spotlight! I’m hoping these posts—and my paintings—can help a few more deserving dogs find their forever homes.

Meet Billie, one of the sweet dogs at Austin’s city shelter, Austin Animal Services.

Billie is a 37-pound sweetheart who may be shy at first, but once she trusts you, she’s your girl for life. She loves walks, car rides, playing with other dogs, and being by her person’s side. She’s house-trained, loyal, and ready for her forever home. Also, the person who adopts her will receive this original painting as a special gift.

Thank you to Rescue ATX Dogs for the incredible work you do helping dogs like Billie during their fresh start. Please contact us at rescueatxdogs@gmail.com if you’d like more information on Billie or how to help out with our organization. taken in Austin, Texas by @ccroix

I stepped outside my usual comfort zone with this one—a bold, expressive oil painting from a one-on-one class with @jodilynnlee.

And honestly? I had so much fun.

I’m learning that sometimes the best thing I can do for my art is stop worrying about whether something feels like “me” and just try it.

New process. New ideas. New challenges. And a whole lot of paint. Thanks Jodi!!! I had a great time!

Meet Bruce. ❤️

Bruce is one of the sweet dogs at Austin’s city shelter, Austin Animal Services, waiting for his fresh start. I had the privilege of painting this special boy—and there’s an extra little incentive for his future family: whoever adopts Bruce will receive his original portrait.

Help us find Bruce his forever home! I will have a link in my bio that will take you directly his page

Meet Oracle, one of the sweet dogs at Rescue ATX Dogs. I had the privilege of painting his portrait in hopes that it helps more people discover what a wonderful companion he is.
Oracle is a gentle, fun-loving, affectionate boy who has been waiting far too long for his forever family. Sometimes all a dog needs is a little more visibility and someone willing to take a second look
To make his adoption even more special, whoever adopts Oracle will also receive this original portrait of him as a gift.
If you’re looking for a loyal best friend—or know someone who is—please take a moment to meet Oracle. Even if you can’t adopt, sharing his story could help him find the family he’s been waiting for.
Learn more about Oracle here:
http://rescueatxdogs.org/oracle or contact: rescueatxdogs@gmail.com
Thank you to Rescue ATX Dogs for the incredible work you do giving dogs like Oracle a second chance. 🐾❤️@rescueatxdogs

I’ve been working quietly in the background, painting, studying, and finding inspiration from an incredible group of artists in Houston. Being surrounded by artists who are constantly striving to improve has encouraged me to do the same.

These are a few pieces from recent months. Thank you for following along—even during the quieter seasons. More to come!#softpastelpainting #dogsofinstagram #dogportrait #texasartist @brimfield.rugs by @ccroix

Last year in Italy, during a pasta-making class, I was so inspired by our chef’s dedication that I had to capture him in pastels. There’s something beautiful about watching an artist at work - whether they’re kneading dough or you’re blending colors.” Pastel on gator board. 16“ x 20“. #texasartist #redrockpastelsocietyofnevada #dustyfingers #softpastelpainting by @ccroix
