Nice for a change up and working on something that isn’t metal for a change. Started the Gino’s boot floor and replacement parcel shelf today. Shoutout to @ogbigwormm for the crash course on snorting wood dust. Next up is to mount the small parcel shelf speaker boxes I have.

Finished this off at the start of the year. Often neglected when building an engine for a car that was never meant to make power is making sure the drivetrain can handle it. Having friends who have popped their stock gearbox internals from fun amounts of boost, I decided to build the box. It got:

- Full new genuine Daihatsu bearings, synchros, internals and seals throughout
- Custom billet steel shift forks from @mtm_custom_gear_ratios (also now available due to mine being the prototypes)
- Full billet gearset also from @mtm_custom_gear_ratios : straight cut 1st to 3rd, helical 4th and 5th. This way cruising speed gear noise is kept to a minimum, but 1st to 3rd will take abuse
- DSport 1way LSD

I’ve paired this with a #wilsonengineering short shifter and a hydraulic clutch conversion from a late model Malaysian spec K3 which should make it very spicy to drive.

Note the size difference between the stock 5th gear and the new ratio I chose - it requires a quick cut and shut of the top gearbox cap thanks to @cole.cetinich and his bead roller!

It was a fun experience stripping and assembling it, and I always enjoy learning new skills when it comes to my cars. Do as much yourself so you only have yourself to blame if and when it fucks up… then unfuck it and try again.

Tight space means a tight 90. Luckily AliExpress came to the rescue. Actually pretty decent stainless too 😅
Probably around about 0.75D-0.8D and it wasn’t even advertised as tight radius. Welded nicely!

Hated the shitty chebay welding cart so decided to whip up my own. Function over form, but hey the metal was free. Holds my D and G bottles and has a free tier for further additions later (or a good bench to hold energy drinks). Designed and 3D printed some rod tube holders from ASA meaning all my welding stuff is now fully mobile.

K3 billet CNC Velocity Racing intake manifold. Fits M101/YRV without issue.
To fit L700 Cuore/Mira, you’ll need to run a booster delete kit like in the photo. Currently drilled for a Bosch DBW throttle body but can be worked to suit any TB.

Finally got around to fitting the @super____duck____company L700S IRS axle to replace the solid rear beam axle. There are clearly some differences between the JDM and ADM 2WD rear floor pans so some modifications were required to make it work.
There are a few more changes I want to make but so far it looks the goods and feels great to have proper camber adjustment in the rear!

Finally got around to stripping my spare K3 gearbox in preparation for a full rebuild with a D-Sport LSD, custom billet gearset and eventual billet selector forks.
Hoping this will make it a totally bulletproof box as there are so many OEM components that commonly fail with additional power output.
