My daughter @nyla.jenae loves The Princess and the Frog and wants to play the live action Tiana one day. Her voice is like an angel and I am her biggest fan. I wanted her first time at @disneyland to be so special. I made her a pair of Tiana themed ears that I hope she’ll keep forever. I pray that her dream comes true so we can look back at this memory as a part of her journey👑

When my daughter was little she had a Flat Stanley project from a book she read in class. While we were separated and as God was getting me off of the streets, I finally got a phone and an address. Each parent had an assignment to take Flat Stanley around with them and document it for their class projects.She sent me her Flat Stanley so I could take him around Hollywood. I promised her that one day, I would take her with me to each place I took Flat Stanley. It feels amazing to live out that promise now. But this time, Nyla’s beautiful friends ( who I also call my daughters) surprised me and her with an early birthday present and took me to Disneyland. It was my first time there. I thought I would get to do it with my parents but my dad passed beforehand. I am beyond blessed to have been able to share this experience with them. God is manifesting my dreams into reality but it feels so good to do it with those you love🫶🏽 @disney

Every piece I create carries a little bit of healing.

In order:

1.) My dress that I painted and wore to the Wearable Art Gala 2018. The theme was “Black Royalty” so I wanted my hair to reflect the beautiful black women in the roaring 20’s. I went to Kim Kimble salon to get help achieving the look. Kanye and Dr. Donda West are painted on my dress because their stories were a big part of mine while I was in Skid row.

2.) Me telling the story of how I became an artist

3.) My mentor Shirt King Phade in the movie “Fresh Dressed”
displaying some of the jackets we collaborated on. I was in France during the filming🫠

4..) My “Kanye Monster” piece in progress, painted on pieces of cardboard because I had no money for canvas

5.) The finished piece of “Kanye Monster” from a dream I had and he later named a song “Monster”

6.) A jacket I painted for my daughter of Princess Tiana💚

7.) Me painting Chadwick Boseman and Nipsey Hustle meeting in Heaven (acrylic and glitter)

8.) Me painting a mask after adding fake skin and sculpting it to look like Freddy Kruger/ then me dressed as Freddy for an office party in full costume I made

9.) Me scaring people on the bus as Freddy 😅 (unintentionally)

10.) Phade discussing how he got into graffiti art : from the subways to becoming Shirt Kings.

11.) The jackets we painted (the one on the left was painted by me)
