Just a picture of me and the 2026 Wynne Bass Club Angler of the Year! I had to set out a couple tournaments this spring to coach softball, but Dad was able to stay on the fish and in the AOY chase. Can’t tell him nothing right now! Shoutout to @csquaredfishing and Uncle Ricky for filling in! by @cdnickles12

A time was had at Mille Lacs in MN. Spent 3.5 days chasing giant smallmouth with Dad and some buddies. First afternoon we dropped our trolling motor at our house to troll towards the main lake. We immediately saw wolf packs of 3 and 4 pound smallmouth roaming in the shallow water by the house. We were all like kids in a candy store. We all ended up catching several 3 and 4 lbers in the grass throughout the week. The majority of the weekend was spent fishing offshore reefs for fish in all three phases. I’d say majority were spawning. When the wind wasn’t blowing you could see the beds and fish easily. Main baits were a ned rig, drop shot and tube. When the wind blew I could catch them on a c-rig fan casting. I wasn’t expecting to catch big smallmouth in the grass on swim jigs and chatterbaits, but they were chomping shallow when the wind picked up. We caught at least 15 4 lb smallmouth, but never a 5. Our largest of the week was a 4.95. We had over 21 lbs of smallmouth each day of fishing. Mille Lacs is one of a kind place and I hope to make that 2000 mile trek once again sometime. by @cdnickles12
