I feel the need to discuss the difference between these photos in the connection between my hands and the bit. People who are not from the racetrack struggle to understand something... I do not set out to pull or crank on a horse's mouth EVER. At this point in my career I feel confident to say that you will find it hard to find very many riders with hands softer than mine. However, these hands are also very strong and I will take using that strength (if I can help it) over a horse fully running off or getting us into trouble any and everyday. The strength comes in when my soft negotiations have failed which is usually on horses I dont get on everyday or have not been on long enough late in their careers.

I will start by saying that I have been known to specialize in something many don't even want to attempt playing with, and that is riding, successfully, the known "flipper." From the moment I am on a horse's back I can tell you confidently whether they have the capacity to flip. I have not been wrong, and too many times that proof comes when I don't get on them anymore, or sometimes when things get out of my control (someone else controlling their head usually).

My preferences are light contact, using mostly body communication on a racehorse and most other disciplines that require some amount of contact & little to no bit contact with full body communication if I can in western disciplines. You can see the light contact in photos 1,4 and 5. In photo 6 I am tackless with my mare, may she rest in peace, Bullet. Photo 2 went from light contact to full contact when my horse decided to show off by sky leaping as he sometimes enjoyed while coming off the racetrack. This horse is completely sound and thoroughly enjoyed his time on the racetrack. He showed it by playing, HARD. For which I just sat through most of the time and didn't move my hands or position throughout so he knew exactly where I was. We had great communication and overzealous behavior was met with boundaries, which is what this photo is showing. He did not go beyond this boundary again in the time that we spent together at the track. Though he continued to buck and jump around whenever he chose. Cont. by @ce.bullet

Photo 2010
My first heart horse 💕 gifted to me by my sister for christmas when I was 7. She put a forest green halter in a box with a note under it telling me Angelle is mine. I can't remember if I cried or almost cried. But it's a day I'll never forget. I don't remember what else I got for christmas that year but this horse changed my life. She was my everything. She was the first horse I had who was truly all mine. We did absolutely everything together and I rode her more bareback with a halter than anything, even when we went cattle sorting sometimes. She was my ride or die. I wouldnt be the horseman I am today without having had her first.
I can't remember what ribbons we won or how well we did in competitions of any kind (though I know we did well), but I remember winning races against friends and my sister with her lol and I remember so many trail rides and goofing around, falling off and learning to swing up. We had years where we rode every single day, just because we could. A lot of my very best memories are with her. There's nothing like a girl's first heart horse 💕

Even the way she went out was fitting. A year before my son was born, we lost her in a freak lightening strike. No storm, no thunder, no suffering. Just one strike for God to bring her home 🙏🏻

Miss this boy so much 💕 County Winds aka Celtic 🍀
I called my mom one day about a 2 yr old, joking that she should buy a racehorse. She said yea right, but showed him to my Gramma who has since passed away, and she said to buy him lol. So here we are.. he's 6 now. He didn't get the chance to be all he probably could have as far as being a racehorse goes. But he will never be without and I cannot wait to bring him home to me for his next career 💕 Thanks to @lsteppler for always taking such good care of the prince lol. Don't know what I'd do without him 🥰
