I posted this video one year ago today, and I still feel exactly the same way one year later. This past year has been filled with many highs and lows, but I’ve learned to deeply appreciate each experience for what it is, no matter which direction it goes.

Each concert, each adventure that I wish I could share with my Dad, is now experienced with more profound gratitude than I have ever had. I will be forever grateful for the way he instilled the love of life, nature, music and human connection in me.

My grief has changed, but it hasn’t gone away; and I’m sure it never will. I’ve grown tremendously around it, which makes it feel a bit smaller now than this time last year, and for that I am grateful. Grateful to have the ability to heal, no matter how painful it may be at times.

I miss my Dad more than any combination of words will ever be able to convey. Since he passed, I’ve not only had to grieve his absence, but I’ve grieved the way life as I knew it once was. I’ve grieved the version of myself that I was, before I knew such a profound loss. I’m learning to accept these changes with grace and patience.

If this entire experience has taught me anything, it truly is that life is too short, and you never know when your last breath will be. Enjoy the ride while you’re here.

The last time I was here, I was with my Dad. I woke up today with the overwhelming feeling that I needed to spend the day with him, so I did. I saw 111, his favorite number, about a dozen times on the 2 hour drive over. I see it everywhere, all of the time, and I know it’s him reminding me that everything is okay.

I miss you Dad, I feel your presence with me everywhere I go. The grief comes in waves, but it’s a reminder that I am so lucky for the time I did get to spend with you, it has shaped who I am in so many beautiful ways. ❤️‍🩹 A funeral mass for my father, Stephen J. Marcotte, will be held on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025 @ 10:45am in St. Kilian Parish of Farmingdale, NY.

We will be gathering afterwards for a celebration of life - all are welcome 🙏🏼

It will be held at Marine Corps League in Massapequa, NY from 12pm-4pm.
(99 New York Avenue, Massapequa, NY 11758)

It will be one of many celebrations in the coming months; where we can all be together and reflect, share stories and heal together through nature, music, art, photography, and connection. All of my father’s favorite things in this life ❤️

We couldn’t be more grateful to any and all of you for everything you have done; whether it be phone calls, messages with stories and words of encouragement, donations to my mother and brother - all of it.
