Another GenreBlast in the books! This time, I had an original screenplay in the festival, and it won Runner Up for Best Regional Script. I’m also thrilled to announce that I’ll be teaming up with the incredible @customcaddy to produce it!

Thank you so much @genreblast for putting on such an awesome festival each year. The people I’ve met have changed the course of my life and how I see myself as a filmmaker, and the work I’ve seen programmed has blown my mind. I’m honored to have been part of the lineup for VIII, IX, and X, and can’t wait to see what the future holds. See you next year! taken in Alamo Drafthouse Winchester by @ceci.nono

Finally getting around to sharing some Spoleto photos! I joined the audio team for @spoletofestivalusa this year, and had a blast.

For the festival, we loaded shows into theatres throughout Charleston, built venues from the ground up (hello, Cistern Yard), and ran about a billion feet of cable (give or take)!

I had the privilege of running sound during the festival’s Chamber Music series at the historic Dock Street Theatre. For 33 concerts over 17 days, I was at the board while some of the best musicians in the world played their hearts out.

It was a fantastic foray into the world of live audio, and I learned so much from the rest of the team. Thank you Spoleto 💛 by @ceci.nono

A year later, Tonight and Maybe Tomorrow hit the big screen at GenreBlast! This project is so close to my heart, as are all the wonderful people I’ve gotten to work with along the way. This was my second start-to-finish feature film, where I worked on everything from the location audio to the final sound effects design. I’ve loved this movie since I first read a draft of the script, so seeing it in the theater with a packed house was absolutely magical.

Getting to explore sci-fi sound design has been incredibly fun, and I’m quite proud of the spooky, ethereal, apocalyptic alien effects. Premiering at a genre festival was an extra treat, since I had plenty of people nerding out with me about it after the showing. Thank you @genreblast for having us!

This project has taught me so many lessons. I’ve grown as a sound mixer but also as a human along the way. This movie explores taking chances, opening hearts, letting go of the things we cannot control and fighting for the things we can. It’s about making the most of the time we do have until we don’t, and about realizing that it’s never too late for your life to change. It may not be our last night on earth, but anything can happen.

So, I have to say a huge, huge THANK YOU to my dear friend @michaelsmallwoodforever for writing and directing this beautiful movie, bringing me into the fold, and trusting me with the sound. Thank you @customcaddy for being a wonderful producer and making anything possible. Thank you @foxywithsprinkles for being so cool and kind to work alongside (and for framing out the boom every once in a while). Thank you to @the.bench.marc and @adudenamedjt for making this all happen.

Finally, thank you to the cast for bringing these characters to life. I’ve watched and listened through this movie about a thousand times, picked over every word of every line you’ve all spoken, and had my heart moved over and over again. Thank you all for going on an adventure and bringing me along for the ride. You are wonderful and deserve the world.
