OPENING EVENT TONIGHT

OXIDE
CECILIA JACOBS
——
Please join us and the artists tonight in celebration of the opening of our six new exhibitions at BSG, including 'Oxide' a solo exhibition by Cecilia Jacobs.
——
Cecilia Jacobs’ exhibition 'Oxide' draws inspiration from the overlooked marks found on metal surfaces in the built environment. Traces left behind by time, weather, and use. These incidental textures, often unnoticed, possess a quiet, accidental beauty that speaks to the poetry of the everyday.

The works explore the materiality of rusted and scratched metal and its interaction with traditional printmaking techniques. The inherent unpredictability of the etching process mirrors the organic, uncontrolled nature of corrosion, making each print a reflection of natural decay.

This industrial sensibility is offset by delicate Japanese paper, of which the fragility contrasts the harshness of the source materials. Select works are framed in aluminium, echoing the metallic origins of the imagery and reinforcing the interplay between strength and delicacy.
