So much of what I love about weddings is the mystery, unpredictability, and the magic that can happen when the day is embraced with an open hand. The best laid plans are made somehow more meaningful, more real, when what we thought would happen gets shifted into something entirely unexpected.

Mel, Zach, and their whole team (@aspenivyevents leading the charge) allowed for that ease to flow.

Grateful to be part of a team like this one.

a weekend in Park City on film.

my love of photography has grown immensely the more I have relied on an analog process. I love the texture, depth, and colors of images on film, especially that of medium format. There’s a physical, tangible quality that nothing else can quite replicate. I love that I can’t immediately see the images when I’m shooting film, that it requires me to trust my intuition and lean on experience. I love that when I get the email from my lab with the scans, no matter where I am, I furiously find a place to stop and download the images, like a kid on Christmas morning.

I love that my couples love it the same way I do. In an increasingly digital/immediate/AI-generated world, film feels like a sweet antidote. Especially when we can slow down to allow it to run its magic.

some weddings are so utterly beautiful because of the things you can’t control. Mel + Zach, you have my heart.

The rain this weekend was grounding, acting as a metaphor for real life love, of embracing unpredictability and finding meaning somewhere you may have never looked.
