September Success

I honestly can’t put this one into words… The story of Turkey Foot is a short one but incredible. He was the first mature buck I got photos of back in August and immediately the games began. I hung a couple of different cameras to narrow down his bedding and quickly knew of the two ridge points he was using to bed on. I could only hunt him on a North wind and thankfully we were blessed with a little cold front this week that brought North winds.

I wanted my first sit for him to be the one I killed him on and that’s exactly what happened! I watched him rub a tree while he was bedded 80 yds from me and when he got up he worked his way down to an oak flat and started eating on some acorns. I had to make a quick shot sadly, due to having very few shooting lanes and hit him a little farther back than I wanted. After talking with buddies we determined he was liver shot and thankfully if you hit a deer almost anywhere in the body with a @g5outdoors Megameat it’s going to eat them up! After deciding to back out and give him time we eventually went in to look for him and thanks to some awesome friends, Lewis and Andy, and the sweetest chocolate lab (Macy) we found him about 300yds away.

To say I’m over the moon about this deer would be an understatement. To be able to put in the work, pick out a specific mature whitetail, and execute a perfect plan and make a successful shot is something I’ll never get tired of and WHY I am addicted to chasing whitetails! Now time to start putting the miles on the Ram and find the next one!

The new hats from Grizzly Coolers are here just in time for all the fall adventures!

If you’re anything like me, you can never have too many hats. Whether it’s time spent in the woods, shooting bows, or just enjoying the outdoors with the pups, a good hat is always part of the lineup.

Grizzly knocked it out of the park with these new lids!

A lot of people will support your dreams when they’re convenient. Find the one who supports them when they require sacrifice.

The early mornings, late nights, missed plans, and countless hours behind the scenes.

None of this would mean nearly as much without this beautiful woman beside me.

The right person doesn’t just make life better. They make you better.

Happy anniversary to the love of my life and my best friend! To the woman who changed my world and blessed me beyond measure. You were God’s greatest blessing and every day I look at you I get to see his love and how wonderful he is. We’ve made some pretty amazing memories and had some pretty hard laughs over these past 5 years and I look forward to all the future has to offer us! I love you more than you’ll ever know!

Hard to explain to someone who’s never felt it. But once it’s in your blood, it’s damn near incurable.

Soft shell. Timber tested.

Marsupial’s new Insulated Soft Shell Jacket checks out. Warmth without the bulk and dapper enough for dinner afterwards

Our recent muley hunt was elite and we have three hunts in the pipe, in the back of my head though I’m super excited for tournaments again. Life is good 🙏

It’s never a disappointment being out West. There’s truly just something about that mountain air that’s good for the soul. We didn’t find success, (other than hammering a 5 year old grouse we’ve been watching the past couple years) but we had some close calls and got to do what we love! Until next time!

For now, it’s time to shift gears back whitetails for the next several months. Thank God it’s hunting season!
