Research Associate Professor Larry Millet's lab developed Cell-Like Adhesion through Matrix-Polymer Substrates (CLAMPS). This new framework finally allows scientists to grow and study magnocellular neurons--a particularly finicky type of cell involved in everything from child labor to diabetes.

CEE senior #EngineeringVol Ben Holley has always appreciated how small actions can create a big impact. His goal as a civil engineer is to make housing more affordable and improve sustainability, one concrete block at a time.

For his senior design project, Holley experienced that process firsthand. Advised by CEE Professor Dayakar Penumadu, his team prototyped a sustainable concrete anchor that both moors floating solar panels and serves as a reef!

Professor Jon Hathaway of @cee_utk and his team are midway through a $2.6M grant to bring a novel, low-cost living stormwater management system to underserved communities in the Knoxville area.
