I told myself that when I became a mother, I would try my best to make every birthday memorable for my daughter—and to be as involved as I possibly could. So there I was, learning how to bake… and now look at us. 🥹🎂🤍

It’s so wild to think that I’m 11 months into motherhood, learning so many new things while juggling so many different parts of life—nursing school, being a present mama, a present wife, learning to love myself again, and still making time for the family and friends I love.

I never knew just how powerful and life-changing motherhood could be until I became a mom myself. It has stretched me, softened me, challenged me, and taught me so much about who I am.

And through all of these seasons, I’m especially thankful for my village and my true friends—the ones who have been so kind, patient, loving, and have continued to be an anchor for me through every version of myself. 🤍

I can’t wait to celebrate my baby girl, but I also can’t help but feel so emotional knowing how quickly time has flown. Almost one whole year of loving her, learning her, and growing right alongside her. 🥹

10 months of keeping a child alive, but also 10 months of learning how to keep myself alive.

I could go on and on about how beautiful life has been since becoming a mother to this sweet pea. But there’s another side of motherhood that isn’t always talked about—the part where you continue showing up every day to love and care for your child while simultaneously learning how to love yourself again, take care of yourself, and create some sense of “normalcy” in a life that suddenly feels so different.

Sometimes, that nurture I give myself feels distant and unfamiliar. But with time, patience, dedication, and above all, grace, the turnaround has been transformative and humbling all at once.

I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that we’re approaching the end stages of infancy with our first baby and are about to level up to having a toddler in our household. And doing it without our first fur baby, Chanel, makes this season bittersweet. But we are so incredibly lucky that they had the chance to share their little moments together while they could.

Grief and happiness are such a strange mix. Somehow, they can exist in the same heart and give you the strength to move mountains.

All thanks to Christ. 🤍

10 months of her.
10 months of becoming a mother.
10 months of finding my way back to myself, too.
And I’m so grateful for every bit of it.

Stuffed Ube Pandesal has been such a hit lately 💜

A huge thank you to my family and close friends for being my taste testers and allowing me to create something made with pure intention, love, and a little bit of nostalgia.

Living in the Central Valley, it’s not always easy to find Asian-style breads and desserts nearby. Something as simple as fresh pandesal often means making a drive to another city. One day, my mom came home from the Bay after visiting my niece—her very first grandbaby—with a bag of pandesal from a local bakery near my brother’s house.

Every morning, she enjoyed it alongside her coffee, and once it was gone, our whole household was craving more.

Instead of making the drive back for another bag, I decided to take on the challenge myself. After two failed attempts, the third recipe was finally the charm. Once I perfected the bread, I started experimenting with stuffed pandesal—and that’s when these Ube Pandesals were born.

Since then, they’ve become a favorite among my family and friends, and seeing people enjoy them has brought me so much joy.

So grateful to have baking as a creative outlet and a way to love on the people around me. 🫶🏽✨

Ube pandesal!
Pandesal is a staple Filipino bread usually eaten for breakfast or snacks. Traditional pandesal is light brown, while ube pandesal is purple because of the added ube.
People often enjoy ube pandesal warm with cottee, tea, butter, or cheese. It became especially popular worldwide during the 2020s as ube-flavored desserts and baked goods gained international attention.
