Trump said the complex could be “ripped down” if his name isn’t displayed on the main building of the Kennedy Center. As Trump threatens to tear it down, I am reminded of visiting the Kennedy Center just a mere four years ago. It was truly inspirational, stunning and an incredible center for the whole world to come together and celebrate the arts.

I wanted to wait for Diez y Seis + Hispanic Heritage Month to share this BIG news.

With an absolutely incredible team of folks, we pulled off an amazing day at @the.orange.magnolia and Masur Hall and special BTS filming around town honoring St. John Colony, Azie Taylor Morton + rural Texas while raising support and dollars for the Caldwell County Democratic Party and Gina Hinojosa.
::
And guess what? LOCKHART BEAT HOUSTON in fundraising!! That’s what a small town can do when neighbors show up for one another.
::
Musicians, artists, photographers, filmmakers, chefs, florists, stylists, historians, business owners, vegans, carnivores, moms, dads, teens ~ and supporters from four counties ~ came together in Lockhart, Texas to make it happen. Muchísimas Gracias!!

Small town. Big community. BIG impact.
Most importantly: your voice matters. Your vote matters.
Get out there and BE HEARD.

I had the absolute honor and privilege to photograph a recent fundraiser for @ginafortexas in my hometown Lockhart, Texas!

It was such a wonderful night of music, loteria, food, and conversations. I truly believe Gina Hinojosa has what it takes to be our future governor! She can usher Texas into a new era of progression and real change! Her campaign has gathered so much positive momentum and I thank her graciously for making a stop in Lockhart!

Since I turned 18 I have voted in every election I could. I truly believe it is our civic duty to voice our concerns and opinions with our VOTE! There is so much at stake in this upcoming election and I am urging any and all to do their research and head to the polls! It just so happens to be national voter registration day today so please check and make sure you have everything in order before the upcoming election! Make a plan to vote and I’ll see y’all homies at the polls!

I remember when Robert E. Lee Road became Azie Morton Road, honoring Azie Taylor Morton ~ the first and only African American woman to serve as U.S. Treasurer and an Austin civil rights pioneer who helped desegregate Barton Springs.

What I didn’t realize until recently? Azie was from the historic freedman’s community, St. John Colony, right outside of Lockhart, in Caldwell County.

The Husband and I are proud supporters of the Inaugural Azie Taylor Morton Dinner on Saturday, September 12th at 6:30 PM at Masur Hall, with Gina Hinojosa as Keynote Speaker and @adrianmquesada on the turntables! All funds raised support the @ccdptx
