I work with substances humans have used for thousands of years ;

Frankincense
Myrrh
Pine
Mastic
Labdanum
Elemi…. and every year the so called “modern” research reveals another fragment of what these ancient materials may actually be doing.

BUT curiosity is not certainty! when a new Frankincense study supports something I have observed at my formulation bench. I don’t immediately turn it into marketing claim.

I become even more curious.

What species, what extraction? What compounds? What model human or animal study? What concentration? What hasn’t been studied yet?… because my whole oleoresin isn’t automatically equivalent to the extract in somebody else’s laboratory.

that distinction matters.
Maybe it doesn’t make the fastest content, maybe “frankincense cures eczema” would get me hundred K followers faster.

BUT that isn’t the Ayurvedic Herbalist in me, neither the Apothecary I built.
Celestial Thyme is succeeding on clinical curiosity and Ancient knowledge gives me somewhere to begin. Science gives me better questions and keeps me curious.

I would rather earn your trust then borrow your belief and do you know why I don’t have hundred K followers???? because I build on clinical curiosity not clinical certainty.

Good for you might be one of the least Ayurvedic sentences on the Internet. A plan doesn’t exist in a vacuum and neither do you !!

Resins,herbs, spices, tea your hands preparing them; turmeric is good for you. Ginger is good for you. Ashwaganda is good for you, but is it good for you Right now?
In this season ? with your digestion? with your constitution why ?in the state your body is actually in?

what does this do? What qualities does it carry and what qualities are already present in you because something can be natural organic medicine and ancient and still be wrong for you today.

What is your body asking for today?

As internation Ayurveda Day this reminded me today to share… if just for a moment we think about what serves us instead of just loading our already hardworking miracles.

We remember myrrh as a biblical gift.

But we knew her long before that.

Follow me for the resin trail… 1000 year old Commiphora seed was brought back to life… during archaeological excavations in a cave in a Judean Desert and a mysterious ancient seed was recovered.

…researchers eventually planted it and germinated.

The tree nicknamed SHEBA is not alive and growing. Radiocarbon dating place the seat itself around 993 to 1200 2CE making it roughly thousand year old DNA analyse showed that it belongs to call Mira the genius that includes the trees associated with Myrrh and other historical important aromatic resins. But here is where the story gets fascinating.

researchers could not match precisely to any sampled living Cammiphora species. genetically it was distinct from the Commiphora species normally harvested today for famous fragrant oleoresin.

And then they analysed the three chemically they expected something highly aromatic.

But instead contained relatively few fragrant compounds but numerous compounds associated in experimental research with biological activity and researchers reported a previously undescribed series of glycollipids.

That led researchers to consider a remarkable possibility. This ancient tree could be related to a resin producing medicinal tree described in historical biblical sources although that identification remains a hypothesis not a proven conclusion yet😉💫

The wonder of nature is not something we are meant to leave behind as we grow into our physical bodies and the intensity of the three-dimensional world begins to take hold.

If anything, perhaps we are meant to carry that wonder more deeply with us—to remain able to see beyond what is immediately tangible, even as life becomes increasingly occupied by the tangible.

And somewhere amongst all that progress,
we stopped touching things.

We stopped noticing.

We stopped wondering.

But wonder was never something
we were meant to outgrow.

Perhaps it was something
we were meant to hold onto.

Because when we create with our hands,something happens.

Time changes.

We notice.
We listen.
We feel.
We care about the smallest things.

Perhaps this is where
true craftsmanship begins.

Not simply in knowing how to make something—

but in caring deeply
about how it comes into being.

AI can imitate.
Machines can accelerate.
Industry can scale.

But the human hand leaves something behind
that efficiency never can:

evidence of attention.

The relationship between maker and material.
The instinct to pause.
To touch.
To smell.
To change course.
To begin again because something simply
doesn’t feel right.

And in a world increasingly obsessed
with making more,
faster—

choosing to make slowly,
with curiosity,
with reverence,
with our hands,

may become more precious than ever.

Because wonder cannot be automated.

Care cannot be mass-produced.

And presence cannot be scaled.

I have stopped asking life for more before asking myself what I am still carrying.

This phase of my life feels less about calling things in and more about bringing things to light.

The thoughts that keep circling.
The attachments that have become heavy.
The stories that have already finished their season.

I write them down.

Not to magically make them disappear, but to give them somewhere to exist outside of me.

And then I go to water.

Read the INCI.

Then look beyond it.

Trace the resin.
Find its origin.
Look at how it was gathered.
See how I extracted it.

And then—

go compare it.

Because I don’t think transparency should end where marketing begins.

In fact, I think the more extraordinary the botanical claim on the front of a bottle...

the more evidence you should expect on the back.

So yes.

Read my labels.

Question them.

Look up the Latin.

Ask me where the resin came from.

Ask me what wildcrafted means when I use it.

Ask me how much of the process actually happened inside my Apothecary.

I would rather have an informed customer scrutinise my composition than an uninformed one simply believe my story.

THE FRONT OF YOUR SKINCARE BOTTLE IS AN ADVERTISEMENT....but

Your skincare may not be as “natural” as you think it is.

And the biggest clue?

Stop reading the front of the bottle.

Turn it around.

“Natural.”

“Clean.”

“Botanical.”

“Paraben-free.”

“Organic ingredients.”

“Wildcrafted.”

Beautiful words.

But here’s the uncomfortable question:

What do they actually mean?

A formula can contain one celebrated botanical and build an entire identity around it.

A product can shout ORGANIC while only referring to selected ingredients.

“Paraben-free” tells you what isn’t there.

It doesn’t tell you what is.

And “natural” alone tells you surprisingly little about quality, safety, sustainability or provenance.

This is where greenwashing becomes clever.

It doesn’t necessarily need to tell you a lie.

Sometimes it simply allows you to assume the rest of the story.

So here’s what I want you to do next time you’re standing in the skincare aisle:

Ignore the romance on the front for 30 seconds.

Turn the bottle around.

Read the INCI.

Ask which botanicals are actually present.

Ask their species.

Ask their provenance.

Ask how they were extracted.

Ask whether “wildcrafted” comes with traceability and responsible harvesting.

Because conscious skincare shouldn’t require blind trust.

The front sells you the story.
The back should be able to prove it.

At Celestial Thyme, I don’t want you to buy something because I tell you it’s botanical.

I want you to know the botanicals you’re holding.

Know the resin.
Know its homeland.
Know its extraction.
Know the hands behind it.

Don’t become afraid of ingredients.
Become harder to fool.
