Dance Beyond: Roots Ritual 🪶✨

The theme of @dance.beyond this year was Roots & Resilience.

We let this theme guide our performances, with Friday being the day to embody “Roots”.

This piece was a ceremonial call to the ancestors with @rrrellll & @earthtomysoul with the stag skulls invoking our earthly ancestors and wisdom of our ancient lineages, @laleilamagnolia embodying a call to our multidimensional kin as a dragon priestess creature, and @underneathawillowtree & @theoracleofapollo honoring the earth herself and allowing the ancestors and elementals to take form through their dance. 🤎

Originally this piece was supposed to be during @randomrab until his set was moved indoors, but as always divine timing loves to be at play and we last minute collaborated with @keena.maya who already had planned to do a ritualistic opening to her set. With limited time, we had only roughly planned how the set was going to go. Yet somehow Keena’s music ques couldn’t have been more perfect, as if we planned our sets exactly to her music. This is the magic of being adaptable and improvisational, when your heart is in the art things just align so effortlessly! It was such an honor to collaborate with @keena.maya an inspirational femme artist DJing with her baby on her hip the whole time 🥹

Dance Beyond - Resilience Offering with @desert_dwellers_music 🪽✨

Moving with the Roots and Resiliance theme, Saturday was the day we embodied “Resiliance”

This performance for @desert_dwellers_music was an offering of graceful strength.

It’s a continuation of the story we told with our roots ritual, embodying how the more rooted we are in connection to our community, ancestors, and our devotional service, the more we can rise and cultivate radiance and resilience together.

@underneathawillowtree & @theoracleofapollo wearing orange & gold 🧡 representing the more grounded and earthly essence of resilience, the inner fire and the radiance of courage.
@laleilamagnolia & @rrrellll in white and gold representing renewal and the spiritual endurance that comes through cultivating resilience. 🤍

Philly the portal is open for you too… catch us November 8th 7pm @prismartsphiladelphia 🕯️🥀

Join for an immersive ritual dance experience honoring the cross-quarter celebration of Samhain.

Samhain marks the time when the veil between worlds is at its thinnest. A night to honor our ancestors, commune with the unseen, release what has reached its end, and step consciously into the darker half of the year.

We’ll enter a ceremonial space of movement, music and ritual. Our dance will become a doorway between worlds.

Featuring:

🌙 @roniitmusic bringing her witchy, ethereal vocals all the way from the West Coast, weaving a sonic spell for the night.
🖤 @blaudiss bringing his ethereal bassy vibes and live instrumentals
🐉 @celestialdragonscollective bringing ritual theater performance artistry into the Samhain portal.

🔥🍂

I seek the caves to hide for time
Melt my thoughts into the webs,
As I force the surrender to just be
Where the dark crevices wrap my soul
This temperature, I fear I may lose control

The kind that builds up with intensity
Till it is a ember that will spark your fuel
Brightening the caves with the power deep within
There is no fear of what your mind can hold
Your thoughts seek to intertwine with your soul
Wrapped in purity to bring this light, you are in control
