My second wool jacket commission of the Autumn, now on it’s way to Oklahoma 🍂 It’s made from @fernhillfibre pure Shetland cloth, which is unbelieably soft, has this incredible drape and works beautifully for an unlined coat. It's finished with lots of hand stitching around the collar and pocket welts. The pockets are lined with Irish linen and the buttons are from down the road @courtneycobuttonmakers.

Less than 10 days until the London Premiere of HANDMADE FUTURE, and we can’t wait to share this beautiful film with all our friends in the big city. The screening will be held at London Screen Academy in Highbury in partnership with @selvedgemagazine for LONDON TEXTILE MONTH. You can snag your ticket and invite a friend to join you via the link in bio.

This screening event is extra special because we’ll have a pop up market to support the artisans in the film as well as a chat after the film with the director @artist.and.nomad, UK ground to garment designer @celiabirchall.studio, and special guest from @the.anou in Morocco (joining remotely). Our moderator is the fabulous Josie Warden, director of @leagueofartisans.

I’m really looking forward to the London Premiere of HANDMADE FUTURE as part of London Textile Month.

I first met Kirsten from @artist.and.nomad at a creative conference in London two years ago, and last year I had the privilege of opening my studio to her and her husband to capture the ground-to-garment story of a British wool jacket for their documentary.

The film features artisan makers in 6 different countries, from rug weavers in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains and block printers in India’s Golden Triangle to Appalachian broom makers in Kentucky. It reflects on how artisans might guide us toward a more sustainable, community-focused future.

The screening of HANDMADE FUTURE is on 12th September at 2:30pm as part of @selvedgemagazine London Textile Month. Kirsten and I will be there for a Q+A after the film, and we will host a pop-up artisan market to support the craftspeople featured in the film.
