POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

September was a big month for books at Celia and an even bigger month for community! 📚✨

Our September best sellers were filled with books connected to some of the wonderful authors and events we hosted at the shop, including Rachel’s launch of We’re So Lucky to Live Here and our unforgettable evening with Elin Hilderbrand. ❤️

From new releases to staff favorites and a few unexpected standouts, these were the books our community couldn’t get enough of last month. Which one did you read? 👀📖

This week, Rachel shares three books she thinks you’ll love: an extraordinary literary novel with a touch of fantasy (possibly her favorite book of the year so far!), a moving story about three grown sisters navigating their complicated relationship with their mother at the end of her life, and a funny, lively murder mystery featuring an English professor turned private investigator. Happy reading! 📚

Hey friends! I’m doing a reading and author talk from my book Queer Horror at the gorgeous Celia Bookshop in Swarthmore on Friday, October 30th, and you know what else? There’s also going to be a spooky market! Besides Celia’s usual collection of excellent books (I recently picked up The House That Eats the Dead there), you can get some zines & vinyl records from Consonant Collective, some witchy stuff from Katie Haegele, comics & pop culture stuff from Jay McQuirns, and TTRPGs and Zine Games from Goosepoop Games! Tickets for the event cost $5, and the whole thing runs from 6:30 to 8:30ish. You can RSVP at celiabookshop.com/events. Hope to see you there =D #queerhorror #spookymarket #halloween taken in Celia Bookshop by @celiabookshop

What’s on your banned book reading list? 👀📚

If you’re looking for your next read, here are three banned and challenged books we recommend. And if you’re looking for a way to celebrate Banned Books Week, join us for a Silent Reading Night in solidarity with the freedom to read.

Bring a banned or challenged book, or choose one from our display, and spend an hour reading quietly alongside fellow book lovers. No discussion required.

Because sometimes the loudest protest is a room full of people quietly turning pages. 📖

Every attendee will also receive a free audiobook download from Libro.fm — your choice of Banned Together: Our Fight for Readers’ Rights or How to Defend Books & Why: Book Bans and How We Fight Them.
