POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Rejoice in the Lord always, the Lord is at hand.
I was anxious presenting on a stage with such diverse minds and thoughts. I thought I am just a newly installed medical doctor from Cameroon, how do I present infront of specialists, professors, people from across the world .

But that’s how the battle starts , in the mind. Think of everything just and true and still your mind. This conference happened for a reason, I spoke for a reason and my purpose will be revealed.

A big thanks to @teencanceramerica @canteen_aus @teenage_cancer for making this conference possible and providing grants to delegates to attend this mind evolving event.

To the amazing team who helped make this event possible. @louloubeller and the others I can’t find their tags❤️❤️❤️. Thank you. taken in Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) by @celiafiechop

It’s been a long journey but this is the best gift I could get before turning 24.
This song “the pain, the torment, the torture 😂 is it not enough” played in my head so many times 😅😅😅. I did tear up at the declaration cause your girl has been through premium pepper added to med school life 😂😂.

But here we are grateful to God for pulling me through 7 years.
For giving my parents the strength to give me strength, to hold me hand through ups and downs in this journey.
For placing me amongst minds that have challenged, probed and impacting me in many ways.
For friends and family far and near I have met along this journey and before who have been gems to my world.
For every lesson I got which will build me in the future. This is not the end of it but just one chapter closing and I pray God gives me the power to conquer all what the future holds.

Till my next quest arises
Today I can finally say I MADE IT
Yours truly is now and forever called

What happens when life changes just when everything seems to be falling into place?

At just 22 years old, while pursuing her dream of becoming a medical doctor, she received a diagnosis that would change her life forever. Only months earlier, she had won the MISS Face Cameroon pageantry. She was young, ambitious, and working towards a future she had spent years dreaming about. Then came the news no young person ever expects to hear: she had cancer.

On Episode 7 of The Memoir of a Cameroonian, we sit down with a medical doctor who takes us beyond the titles, achievements, and expectations to share a deeply personal story of pain, resilience, family, and faith.

In this honest and moving conversation, she opens up about what it meant to face cancer while still in medical school, the emotional weight of confronting such a diagnosis at 22, and the unwavering support of her parents during one of the most difficult periods of her life.

But her battle was not only physical.

There was also a spiritual struggle. Faced with a reality she could hardly understand, she became angry with God and stopped going to church for a while. Questions arose. Her faith was shaken. And like many people who experience suffering they never expected, she had to confront the difficult question: Why would God allow this to happen to me?

Eventually, her relationship with God began to change. Through her journey, she found her way back to faith, rebuilding a relationship that had been tested by pain, uncertainty, and the search for answers.

This episode is about more than cancer. It is about the vulnerability behind achievement, the strength of family when life becomes uncertain, the freedom to admit anger and doubt, and the possibility of finding faith again after losing your footing.

It is a reminder that behind every title is a human being, behind every smile may be a private battle, and behind some of life’s most difficult chapters are stories that deserve to be heard.

Last year, I became a Cancer Patient advocate and Project Coordinator for the Khaliq Melle Sanda Foundation,a family-founded organization that turned unimaginable loss into action by supporting children facing cancer and raising awareness across Cameroon.

Some childhood cancers receive subsidized or free treatment in different facilities. Others do not. And even when treatment is subsidized, there are still costs that many families simply cannot bear.

I remember speaking to a mother of a newly diagnosed child. She looked at me and said, “My daughter, you’re a doctor. You understand cancer, but you don’t understand what I’m going through.”

As a survivor, I understood what it felt like to be a patient. But in that moment, I realized I still couldn’t fully understand what it meant to be a mother watching her child fight for their life.

It truly takes a village to fight cancer. It takes God. It takes doctors and nurses. It takes families, friends, advocates, donors, and strangers who choose compassion.

That is why this donation to the Cameroon Oncology Center meant so much to me.

Because it is not just money on a paper.
It is hope.
It is time.
It is another opportunity to fight.
It is transportation to the hospital.
It is medication, investigations, chemotherapy, and sometimes the difference between stopping treatment halfway and completing it.

I have always believed that we are here to carry one another through this life. Be kind to people. Listen when you can. Pray when you can. Help when you can. Encourage when you can.

Life will not always be within our control, and circumstances will sometimes be beyond anything we can change. But we can choose how we respond. We can choose to show up. And sometimes, that alone can make all the difference.

🎗️ Cancer Survivors Day

For every survivor. For every patient.

For every family carrying this journey.

Trust your body. Trust yourself.

And never be afraid to ask questions.

The things we ignore do not always disappear.

The things we fear do not always define us.

And the things we discover early can sometimes save our lives.

Choose awareness.

Choose prevention.

Choose your health.

Years later, I am still learning how to tell this story.

But today feels like a good place to start.
@be.fab meeting you in Australia was a day I started getting over survivor guilt, seeing what you do in Nigeria was something I never saw happening here, the hands you openly held, the sisters you made. I had never seen so many cancer survivors in one place, talk less of someone from Africa, from Nigeria. Seeing that video of all those survivors in that retreat, letting themselves being filmed openly. We all carried the fear of the unknown, all carried a prayer and they still showed up for others. So they didn’t feel alone. Thank you for opening my eyes, my heart and my voice.
