Started my microloc journey with 368 locs using the twist and interlocking method. I’m learning to love my natural hair again. By God’s grace, I’m embracing who I am and enjoying the process. Here’s to my new journey!

Mount Fuji, you were NO JOKE. 🗻🌧️

I climbed Mount Fuji September 6th-7th, and honestly… this was the most difficult hike I’ve ever done. Not just because of the mountain, but because we literally hiked through a tropical storm.

The rain and wind were SO strong that my umbrella was basically useless. I wore two thick socks, put plastic bags over my feet, and wore my boots… and somehow water STILL got in. My feet were completely soaked, so I ended up changing my socks and plastic bags during the hike, hoping it would help.

I had to buy two raincoats because the rain and wind were so strong, and I went through two pairs of gloves because those got soaked too. The path was extremely rocky, the weather was brutal, and the visibility was basically ZERO. We could barely see anything around us.

And the saddest part? We actually made it to the summit, the very top of Mount Fuji and we couldn’t see a thing. After all those hours of hiking while soaking wet, freezing, and exhausted, I was really hoping we would at least get to see the view from the top. But the clouds and rain had other plans.

Then, as if the hike wasn’t already hard enough, on the way back down at Station 7, my phone died. Water had gotten into my phone AND my portable charger, so I couldn’t charge it. I basically had to hike down two stations with no music, completely exhausted, just listening to my own thoughts.

By the end, I was mentally AND physically exhausted. There were definitely moments when I questioned why I was doing this, but somehow, I kept going.

I truly believe this experience would’ve been completely different in the summer, but I’m still proud of myself for making it through. It challenged me in ways I didn’t expect, and even though I didn’t get the view I imagined, I can officially say I climbed Mount Fuji.

Definitely the most brutal hike I’ve ever done.

Would I do it again? …Ask me tomorrow. 😂

Four years ago today, on August 1, 2022, I stepped onto the yellow footprints at Parris Island with no idea what the Lord had in store for my life.

Before that, on December 8, 2021, I raised my right hand for the very first time and made the decision to become a United States Marine. Looking back now, I can truly say it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Born and raised in Liberia, I never could have imagined the path the Lord would lead me on. Today, I have the privilege of serving in the United States Marine Corps, an organization built on warfighting, discipline, honor, courage, commitment, and the responsibility to be ready to answer our nation’s call whenever needed. It has challenged me, humbled me, and shaped me into a stronger Marine, leader, and person.

As I look through these photos, I don’t just see accomplishments, I see God’s faithfulness.

I see friendships that became family, leaders who believed in me, challenges that strengthened me, prayers that were answered, and opportunities I never thought possible. Whether it was graduating boot camp as Honor Graduate and Iron Woman, being meritoriously promoted twice, earning my Associate Degree while serving, reenlisting, being promoted to Sergeant in less than four years, or recently receiving the Marine Corps Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, every blessing reminds me that none of this happened apart from God’s grace.

The Marine Corps has taught me that leadership is about serving others, success is never achieved alone, and the mission always comes before self. Those lessons have shaped not only the Marine I strive to be, but also the woman of God I continue to grow into each day.

I’m grateful for every lesson, every challenge, every Marine I’ve had the privilege to serve alongside, and every opportunity the Lord has placed before me.

Four years down, and I look forward to continuing to serve with humility, lead with integrity, and give God the glory in every season.

To God be all the glory.

Semper Fidelis. 🇺🇸❤️

Honored to receive the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.

This recognition is a reminder that service extends beyond the mission and beyond the uniform. Every opportunity to serve others has been a privilege and I’m grateful for the chance to give back to the communities that have given so much to me.

I hope this encourages someone to volunteer in their own community. You don’t have to wear a uniform to make a difference. Every act of kindness matters..

Thank You God, for every opportunity to serve others. 💗 taken in Okinawa, Japan by @celiaflomo

23 years old, 3 years in the Marine Corps, and finally here.
This month God reminded me that His timing is always perfect. Got my license, bought my first car, pumped my own gas for the first time.
I’m so thankful God has brought me to a place where I’m able to experience these moments without stress. Driving Opalite reminds me how blessed I truly am.
