I can’t believe it’s already been a year since we lost you, sweet baby Ayli. It still feels like yesterday.

It seemed impossible that life could continue without you — yet somehow, here Daddy and I are, learning to live with a grief that has no end. I carry it every day, and carry it willingly, because it means I had the honour of being your home for 37 precious weeks. That love, even wrapped in pain, has shaped us and made us stronger than we ever imagined.

We are forever changed because of you. I’m so grateful for every moment we had, however brief, and for the way you’ve woven yourself into the fabric of our lives. We carry hope for the future, and you will always, always be part of our story.

To all the mothers and fathers whose babies live in heaven, we feel your pain. Don’t lose hope. You may walk through deep darkness, but light will find you again. You are never alone. by @celinejion
