I was never the “bridey” type—in fact I was quite allergic to marriage. Then I met Marti at a dinner party and before we even spoke, I just knew I was going to marry him. Immediately. At the tender age of 45.

It took him six months to call me after that dinner party. Ten months after that call: We were in a courthouse in Florida exchanging vows in jelly sandals and sneakers. We celebrated with ribs, ice cream and tacos with our friends. Fernando was reunited with his best friend Harrison. Mai got me my bridal daises. Marcel was our videographer. The added bonus was that it was my best friend’s Mel’s birthday too. She flew in from LA to be there with us.

It was the perfect day.

A year later, we’re raising Fernando together. Add eight dogs and a slightly manic collection of Filipino art and flea market finds spread across our homes.

We weren’t built for tradition—we were built for this.

Thank you for being my family, Marti. Thanks for being weird with me. Thank you for being our rock. I love you more than you’ll ever know. by @celinerlopez

They say that the most spoken name in the home is usually the most important one. If our house had a soundtrack it would be “Papa”. He enables my weirdness in the most wonderful way. He is Fernando’s hero and best friend. He is a devoted son to his father, brother to his siblings and uncle to his beautiful nieces. He is a talented doctor who has saved many lives, including my mother’s. A respected patron of Philippine art . He is my favorite person in the world, even if I drive him crazy. Happy 50th to my baby faced husband. by @celinerlopez

I remember buying my first Frette as a young girl . It was a pillowcase, because it was all I could afford at that time. I treasured it for many years . I was more than happy to have my friends over to enjoy the magic of Frette here at home. It is now now available in the Philippines. You can find it at Podium, Rustans Makati and Shang Edsa.
