in nov '25 i went to minnesota & watched a lot of movies, saw my beautiful friends & their wonderful partners, and enjoyed being one with the trees. i look back on these pictures with sadness and longing after knowing and seeing what is happening now. if only we knew history would repeat itself, from 2020 & beyond.

most of these tree photos were taken in columbia heights, a mpls neighborhood where just the other day a 5-year old was used as bait before taken into ICE custody, along with multiple other children. reneé good & alex pretti were both murdered only mere minutes from where my best friends live, & only a few blocks from where george floyd was also slain. it is a very scary time to be in minnesota right now, but if there's one thing i know about my state is that we always come back stronger and united in community. only in minnesota will you see people march in -31° wind chill for our democracy. power to the people and our neighbors - that's what makes us so nice.

my heart is in minnesota today & every day. keep eyes on us but never forget: trump wants us scared, anxious and distracted from what's going on in the white house which is why every time a new story breaks from DC, someone in minnesota gets hurt. it's all a distraction. unfortunately for trump, minnesotans are really good at getting rid of ice. in all forms.

a whole year as cello. a whole year of becoming.

originally this was supposed to be a recap post of all the places stage management took me this year. i went on tour, did an opera, had residencies at two colleges & met so many incredible people. but as i quickly approach the quarter point of my life, i recognize another truth that cannot be understated.

this was truly the first year of cello. i had gone by nicknames and other pseudonyms thru undergrad, but 2023 was the first full year i found my name! a year of learning who cello was. i don't have it all figured out but we're getting there each day! the more i find cello, the less i see the person i once was, but she will forever be within me.

if you haven't realized it yet, this is the long awaited coming out post many have been asking for. calling myself lover boy isn't just a cheeky nickname - its my whole identity! 2023 i chose to stand & live in my truth as a transmac non-binary individual. i love boyhood & girlhood & everything within it that makes gender so confusing & wonderful. i love people & i love knowing people. i love living amongst a community that pushes me in the right direction. i love life.

i'm happy to still be here.

i've only been able to outwardly celebrate pride since 2019 & it has been completely freeing. growing up in a household and community that tears down you're view of yourself makes you realize how much more fun life is when you create the space to stop giving a fuck. pride is about protest & liberating the oppressed. the streets of the west village were flooded with Black people and i had never seen anything more beautiful and sacred. i don't take any pride for granted because i remember a time that celebrating for me was nothing but a notion. and living in a country that hates my very existence will not stop me from taking up room in a place that was out of reach for so long. being Black and nonbinary is life's greatest combination and if given the chance, 15yr old me would have loved pride🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

2021 was my year of doing the damn thing. after graduation i was fortunate enough to immediately start working in my chosen career & i somehow made it to Broadway. and i’m only 22. i am so grateful to be part of the 10% of working Black stage managers in the industry right now, with an even smaller amount of those stage managers being Black and nonbinary. this job is not easy and even though we have made major strides in the theatre community, we still have a LONG way to go. i’ve laughed, cried, sweat, bled, fought & sacrificed so much to be the stage manager that i am, more than most would have to. yet i made it to the other side and trust, its only the beginning. 2022 is looking really bright☀️🥂 by @celloblanks
