Swiss Folklore meets Appalachian Clawhammer! 🪕🇨🇭

I took ‘Guggisberger Lied’ – one of the oldest and most haunting Swiss folk songs – and fused it with raw Old-Time clawhammering Style

Traditional Swiss heritage played on the Ome Juniper. What do you think of this cross-continental fusion? ✨

‘Little Sadie’ has been sitting in my repertoire for years, but I rarely played it. My resonator banjo just couldn’t deliver that dark, earthy Old-Time vibe I was looking for. 🪕

That changed the second I picked up the Ome Juniper. That warm, woody, modal punch brought this 19th-century murder ballad back to life instantly!

Fun fact: Clarence ‘Tom’ Ashley first made this song famous in 1930 using a 5-string banjo in this exact Sawmill tuning. Playing it on an open-back feels like taking it right back to its Appalachian roots.

Huge thanks to @omebanjos for building such an inspiring instrument! ✨

Am Freitag 21. August THE LOMBEGO SURFERS • THEE IRMA & LOUISE • CELLO INFERNO an der royalen Sommerbar.
