The Meakins shall herit the Earth or smth 🌎
Playing Max Weinbaum in Good Night Oscar at Miner's Alley until November 7th!

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Meet the artist! Cal Meakins (He/they) is a Deviser for this project. When asked what they like about devising he said, "I love devising because there's no roadmap. You're forced to step back and look at everything made for exactly what it is: is it theatrical, provocative, resonant? It's a process of trust and discovery, without hierarchy. It often feels like the wild west, but inevitably you find you're travelling in the same direction, toward something exciting and new."

Come take the road less traveled and spend a night with some ground breaking theatre! November 7-8 at 7:30pm. Get your tickets now! Link in bio.

Something uplifting I'm holding onto this week: I took a huge leap of faith and it couldn't have paid off more.

This Saturday we closed our production of "Teeny Sweeney" @offsquaretheatre and I said a fond goodbye (or see you next time) to a cherished community of artists and theatremakers. It was my first time contracted solely as a pit musician and my first out of state gig.

Thank you to @alecsteinhorn for taking a big chance and always seeing me as an artist and musician first. You threw together the dreamiest pit and the most tenacious arrangement of Sondheim I've ever had the privilege to witness. Thank you to @kggleason & @commissionermacker
for including me in this wonderful group of artists.

I mean, I never felt a smidgeon of despair 🐝❤️

A perfect show. I'm so glad I could be a part of @carteredward89 's directorial debut. Thanks for taking a risk and including me in this miraculous group of delightful people. Each member of this cast was perfect, and this whole process was simply restorative. It was a very very very nice beginning 💕

I kept the cape, don't worry y'all. And shout-out to @spahn9963 for saving my ass many times 🥰

5 years ago today I set foot in this building for the first time as an intern for @dita.internship. I was terrified because I had no idea what to expect.

Since then, I've been lucky enough to return and wear many hats, jobs I didn't even know I was capable of doing. Intern, Summer Camp TA, Teen Intensive ASM, Overhire Electrician, TYA House Manager, Spotlight Operator, Young Actor Guardian, Teen Intensive Stage Manager (my first ever calling gig!), Callback Reader/Runner, House Manager, COVID Safety Manager, Understudy, TYA Stage Manager, and so many more.

I have been reminded these past five years that a life in the theatre is a life well lived. I love this building and its people and I'm so lucky to do what I love every day!

Happy 5 years ❤️ here's to many more ✨🎉

We closed our production of Man Up last night! I usually don't do post-show hangovers but I will deeply miss the music and message and people from this project. So grateful to make new friendships and strengthen others. Also... I may be a bandana guy now (thanks @juliajjjacobson ) 💜💜💜

Here's a Sun Tzu quote for kicks: Thus, while we have heard of the blundering swiftness of war, we have not yet seen a clever operation that was prolonged 🤔🧐🎭 taken in The Nomad Playhouse by @cellomeakins
