CH Vol. 6 - @cellphii

The most eclectic entry in our mix series so far. cellphii has gifted us with a shapeshifting audible-artefact; undulating through glitch, dub, ambient, jazz, experimental bass, downtempo and more. A product of deep sonic exploration, that we are honoured to house.

Listen on our soundcloud.

Track: “Nunuk”
Written & Produced by @cellphii
Mixed by @jehrush
Mastered by @_yendorrr
Design by @nichicaaa_
Art(Geometry) by @maiafs_
Released on @dancetherapyrecords

I wrote/produced “Nunuk” inspired from the “Nunuk Ragang” which is the Red Banyan Tree where my Kadazan-Dusun heritage believe we whakapapa from ~ the track features my vocals & manipulated samples of the Bobohizan (High priestess/shamans) of the Kadazan Penampang at our last visit to Sabah.
The lyrics I was singing are from a Kadazan language nursery rhyme about nature - simple things in life we tend to forget!

Connecting with Te taiao & delving into Te ao Māori has really made a big impact on me during my formative years living here in Tāmaki Makaurau, being more aware of our roots, realising how we all live in this beautiful planet, all figuring things out - let’s keep on filling it with more art, more music, more smiles

Another big mihi to @flatmate__ for getting me on board! Wohoo✨

A favourite of the Tāmaki electronic underground, @cellphii’s range covers everything from cyclonic techno grooves to immersive primeval ambience.

Born in Sabah (Borneo) and Tāmaki-based, there’s a depth to cellphii’s work that’s immediately apparent, a sound guided by feeling rather than formula. Drawing from organic atmospheres and dub-wise rhythms, her sets are guided by a sense of curiosity and deep respect for the producer’s craft.

Catch @cellphii at MIND ERASER, this August 8th at @whammybarauckland

Tickets in my link bio by @cellphii

hello friends, this one we’re especially proud of.

born in sabah, borneo and now based in tāmaki makaurau, @cellphii has immersed herself fully in the process, digging, producing, and sharing with quiet obsession.

drawn toward dub leaning rhythms, textured low end, and leftfield electronics, her sets unfold patiently, guided by tension, texture, and feeling.

we’ve had our eyes on cellphi for a while now, always admiring her craft and the intention she brings to it.

her relationship with music, rooted in curiosity and a deep commitment to the process, reflects many of the values that sit at the centre of what we do.

it’s with great pleasure that we host her for the first time on the 20th of june.

Fale FM returns with its seventh instalment, soft in its arrival but undeniable in its pull.

For this chapter, @cellphii steps in with a 3.5-hour journey rooted in atmospheres, textured rhythms and her growing love for dubstep. Originally from Sabah, Borneo and now based in Tāmaki Makaurau, her sound draws across Southeast Asia, East Asia, Europe and Aotearoa, weaving together a sense of place that feels both personal and expansive.

We met Cellphii through the Women About Sound programme, where her work immediately held the room. Since then, her presence within Fale FM has felt undeniable.

“Tumodo noh” meaning “have a safe journey” sets the tone. This is a mix that moves slowly, allowing tracks to breathe and settle. Built for long mahi, slow mornings, deep creative sessions or those slightly wonky late-night house gatherings. The final track is an original, closing the journey in her own voice.

Don’t say we don’t put you on.
