Recent drawings done at Tacoma Life Drawing Group sessions. The “overlap” drawing is a pose, 5 minutes. The other drawings are longer, 20 to 30 minutes. I’m playing with forms and attempting to “turn” forms with color. Still learning. by @celtaxeman

Tacoma Life Drawing Group sessions end with what we call “throw down” time. Wow. The group picture captures the the energy in the room at the end of our last session. The artists were ready to share. Such talent. I want to call out the excellent models we’re getting these days. They are prepared and ready to provide inspiration.
The other photos are a couple of my 5 minute efforts followed by a few 15-20 minute efforts.
Thank you Brian and Sami. by @celtaxeman

Born January 1, 1892, (d-1970) Ethel Butler is regarded as the first African American child born in Tacoma. She recalls the first half of her life in Tacoma experiencing little or no racial animosity. She will later say that “segregation didn’t come to Tacoma until World War II. The ship yards came and changed all that”. Hmm, interesting.

Today Officer Harry Dunn will receive the nations 2nd highest civilian honor, the Presidential Citizens Medal. He defended our capital building from the insurrectionist while being verbally assaulted because he was black. The congressional investigation revealed a large man with a very kind face. This is a non violent man.
From what I’ve read about him now, it’s safe to say he has what can be regarded as ptsd. He questions himself, “is this all worth it.”
Officer Dunn , I appreciate what you did.

Wow. 90+ degrees in Tacoma today. Hideous. However, the Tacoma Life Drawing Group still managed to gather at the Merlino Art Center and draw, #rubyradfordmodel provided the wonderful inspiration. One of my efforts. Charcoal and Conte on newsprint. by @celtaxeman
