Adobe 99U brought 500 design leaders to New York City for a timely conversation about the future of creative work.

More than a conference, it was a call to action focused on uniting a divided community navigating profound change and adversity.

The realities facing our industry are undeniable: technology is accelerating, expectations are evolving, and traditional ways of working are being challenged. Yet within that disruption lies opportunity.

The defining question is no longer whether change is coming, but how we choose to lead through it and shape the future we make together. While many important questions, concerns, and experiences were shared, one theme emerged above all others: those who can adapt, collaborate, and embrace new possibilities while preserving the craft, creativity, and humanity at the heart of our profession will be best positioned to thrive.

GRATEFUL FOR
The versions of myself I’ve outgrown. The version of myself I’m becoming. The people I couldn’t have done it without. Those who stayed, those who left. The seasons that brought stillness, the ones that brought joy. The love that surrounds me, the love that resides within. The challenges I once feared would break me, and the strength I discovered within.

creativity, advertising, and entrepreneurship are major themes in my life because of my family. My father worked at AT&T for 30 years in marketing. My brother a graphic design major with a masters in business and avid musician of many instruments. My grandfather an entrepreneur and small business owner in event marketing and trade show display. My grandmother an artist and shoe designer. I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to use these artistic gifts and qualities passed down to me in much of the same way as those before me and credit my drive and passion for the craft to them.

While on sabbatical I continued my executive education by joining the 2026 cohort of Business Perspectives for Creative Leaders with Yale School of Management and AIGA. This 6-week program bridges the gap between creative execution and business strategy, enabling leaders to drive innovation, influence stakeholders, and make data-driven decisions. It was a transformative experience and I am actively integrating these learnings into my playbook #GrowthMindset #ContinuedEducation #yalesom #aiga by @cemasondesign
