I’m so emotional and I didn’t even know!!!! I don’t even have a new profile pic so this is old one but from such a beautiful exhibition project bridging Italy and korea so make sense!!!!
What an honour…thank you so much @forbesitalia for considering me amongst the Italians under 30 that are shaping the future!
I will do my very best to continue working as a curator in Arts & Culture with dedication, integrity, and vision to bridge art to life across cultures 🤍 thanks to everyone who contributed to my journey, thanks to Korea, thanks for believing me!!! I’m really speechless!!!! What a news!!! I’m a crazy workaholic but maybe this is just the confirmation I needed that hard work brings result!!! Whatever you are doing the path is oftentimes uphill and it feels like climbing a mountain but believe in your vision and dreams and good things will come!!! by @cenestpasvale

I am very much honoured and delighted to share that my curatorial essay on @leebae.art has been included in the forthcoming monograph “Lee Bae: Ultimate Form” published by @rizzolibooks edited by Rosa Maria Salvo, and realised with the support of @johyungallery

I have to write an enormous thank you for the trust in including my words and my thoughts in such an important publication on one of the Korean artists that is most dear to me, and to whom I feel grateful everyday for having the opportunity to work with.

This writing is an adaptation of my original essay written for the Venice Biennale, where I look into the depth of myth, ritual, and folk heritage in connection with modernity. The question that always stands is about how the past defines us, and how it is shaped, translated, and moulded by artists to contribute in thinking about the future. A question I am building my entire Ph.D. thesis on, little by little.

Nietzsche wrote “only a horizon encompassed with myth rounds off to unity”, and I love this sentence very much. This text unfolds around that notion, and is enriched by the influence of the great minds I owe my ideas to: Mircea Eliade, David Lowenthal, Byung-Chul Han, amongst others.

Anyway, without further ado, as always, my writing is yours, go to your favourite bookstore to find it !

I have always been interested in finding threads where they wouldn’t be obvious or easy to find. Partly curiosity, partly professional deformation. In curating and diplomacy, we build bridges between cultures, ideas and societies through moments that define a dialogue.

The world today is as hyperconnected as it is divided. For six years, I have sat at the threshold between places, observing, sometimes doing, and thinking about how to build bridges in liminal territories.

Art and diplomacy have always been intertwined. Art depicts reality as it exists, as it is feared or desired, but also gives us a way to exchange, understand and tell stories about ourselves. What better medium to share who we are?

There are few occasions when, at opposite sides of a thread that does not yet exist, two artists walk a parallel path without knowing it. Andrea Francolino, Italian, and Yeesookyung, Korean, arrived at the edge of this dialogue through very different paths, yet both arrived at the same word: a crack.

Crepa in Italian, geum in Korean—a word meaning both crack and gold. A crack not as rupture, but as an opening; a transformative word. Both artists use discarded materials, giving them new life.

A “what if” became the moment I decided to bring this dialogue to life.

Italy at Frieze, organised by the Embassy of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute, is the stage for this encounter, honouring the enduring relationship between art and diplomacy.

The Golden Trace is the title I gave to this year’s dialogue. A trace is fleeting, yet defining. Every encounter leaves one; it is our own doing that gives it the possibility of becoming golden.

There are many people I need to thank for this path. Thank you to Bvlgari and Shawn Lee for trusting us with this project; to the artists and the wonderful galleries, Mazzoleni and Massimo De Carlo, for supporting us; to Andrea Ferrara and Erika Sfascia, my partners in crime; and to Lavinia Mustapha for being the most supportive and talented friend.

My greatest honour of this week has been presenting the newly opened @parkseobo.museum to guests from all over the world during the art week. Working alongside the Foundation and its incredible team over the last (almost) 2 years has been one of the things i cherish the most and i feel so grateful about. This last month and specifically these last days were such a recharge in understanding my journey and looking back at the relationship i have built with Korea over the last 6 years. I will continue my very best to work hard and devote myself as a curator and as an art professional to honour this path and the deep connection that everyday creates a thread between me, an Italian born and raised, to a land that is so far from my birthplace but that has welcomed me with open arms, that has allowed me to grow together, and has finally become my second home ❤️

너무너무 감사합니다

“The Look is A Li(k)e”, the Italian Pavilion at the 16th Gwangju Biennale, opens this week.

Does appearance reflect reality, or is it something we perform? At a time when global trends increasingly shape people and objects to look alike, the exhibition’s title frames ‘look’ as both a digitally approved ‘like’ and a socially constructed ‘lie.’ Appearance emerges not as a passive reflection of reality, but as a force that actively shapes perception, recognition, and belonging. Five artists from Italy and Korea take up that question.

“The Look is A Li(k)e”,

@parkseobo.museum officially opened its doors, and I could not be more proud and honoured to be part of this incredible team and family through a journey that I embarked almost two years ago now. What an honour to tour some fellow professionals and diplomats, and show them our new spaces and the depth of meaning of the museum and its program which breaths and reflects in multiple ways the figure and vision of Park Seo-Bo. Thanks for all the love and positive reception, I can’t wait to show you more along this journey 🤍 taken in 박서보재단 by @cenestpasvale
