Mark your calendars! 🗓️

On October 5, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear one of the biggest climate cases to date — one that could have a major impact on the ability of communities to hold Big Oil companies accountable for their climate lies.

Please join us in Washington, D.C. to show support for Boulder and all communities seeking accountability. And if you’re local to Colorado, be sure to check out the rally being organized by @350colorado in downtown Boulder that same day.

Big Oil’s top lobbying group recently reported talking to members of Congress about draft legislation to stop state climate lawsuits.

What a coincidence that Hageman happens to be drafting legislation to do exactly that. 🙄 by @centerforclimateintegrity

Want to hear a real-life horror story? 😱

From heart attacks to infertility to cancer, we’re only starting to grasp the dangers associated with microplastics entering our blood, our tissues, and our brains.

But newly uncovered documents show that Big Oil and the plastics industry have known about microplastic contamination in the human body for over half a century. And they’ve been trying to bury their concerns ever since. by @centerforclimateintegrity

EXPOSED: Oil giant Shell has known the climate risks of burning fossil fuels since the 1960s, according to uncovered confidential reports. But they buried the science and spread misinformation so they could keep selling oil, while we pay the price.

Shell thought they could get away with choosing profits over people, but the people are fighting back. 103 people in the Philippines are suing Shell in the UK courts to hold them accountable for the damage they endured from a fossil-fuel-driven super typhoon.

In 2026, five states enacted bills granting legal protections to the fossil fuel industry.

Now, the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) is pushing model legislation that goes even further, stripping Americans of their right to access the courts and harming communities affected by corporate pollution — including those living near data centers or fossil fuel pipelines.

“The reason they’re testing this out is because the South is the testing ground for these horrible pieces of legislation before they nationalize them,” explains Tennessee Rep. Justin Jones. “Bills like this are going to make their way through the rest of the country if we don’t stop them at their root.” by @centerforclimateintegrity

Activists and speakers recently made their voices heard in the fight against Big Oil! More than 100 people rallied outside the Boulder County Courthouse as the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in Boulder’s lawsuit against ExxonMobil and Suncor. The message was clear. Corporations should be held accountable for the climate damages they cause! Boulder deserves to make its case heard!

Big Oil and the plastics industry lied to us about plastic recycling for decades. Now we know they lied about microplastics too.

“Internal memos among company scientists and executives ... reveal that for at least half a century, the plastics industry has been aware of and concerned about the potential for microplastic contamination in the human body,” reports Susanne Rust for the @latimes.

Fossil fuel and other petrochemical companies must be held accountable for their deception and the significant damage it has caused. by @centerforclimateintegrity

“I know this wasn’t just bad luck,” said Rasheed Ali, who lost the home he shared with his wife, Gayle Nicholls-Ali, in the Eaton Fire while they were away celebrating their 43rd wedding anniversary.

“I know that back in the 80s, years before we bought our home, Exxon’s own scientists issued an internal memo that the effects of their petroleum products could be catastrophic.”

For decades, Big Oil companies have knowingly fueled catastrophic climate damages while deceiving the public about the dangers of fossil fuels. Communities deserve their day in court to hold these lying companies accountable.

Middlesex County is suing Big Oil companies and their largest trade association for lying about the harms of their fossil fuel products and to make them pay for the growing costs of extreme weather events.

“This lawsuit is a necessary step forward to help protect our communities from further damage from extreme weather events,” said Middlesex County Commissioner Director Ronald G. Rios.

“Our residents are not only bearing the costs of damage from flooding and other natural disasters, but also the rising everyday costs of protecting their homes and families from extreme heat and cold.”

The county joins similar climate accountability lawsuits from Hoboken and the state of New Jersey. 👏 by @centerforclimateintegrity

No industry should be above the law, especially not one as powerful and polluting as Big Oil.

As Big Oil companies continue to lobby federal and state lawmakers to grant them sweeping immunity from climate accountability laws and lawsuits, a new @dataforprogress poll shows that public opposition to putting the fossil fuel industry above the law is higher than ever.

“Big Oil is desperate to secure legal immunity and escape accountability for its role in the climate crisis — and the billions of dollars of damages that have followed,” said Iyla Shornstein, Political Director at the Center for Climate Integrity.

“These poll results show that Americans across the political spectrum are opposed to putting Big Oil above the law.” by @centerforclimateintegrity
